This is a good hotel to stay at. It is really close to downtown. You can literally walk there. The staff are very kind they will answer and attend to all your questions. Restaurants and fast food places are very close proximity including a theater. You really do get your value when you stay at this hotel. I was surprised of how big the room was when I walked in there. There is a big grass are for kids to play at. It is very family oriented. Not a lot of hotels have a big grass area for kids to.
all reviews » It's a very safe Hotel. You need a key to access both the room(s) and elevator. There's always a front desk clerk available or watching the parking lot, as is the parking lot lit after 7pm and throughout the night. It's withing walking distance to the Downtown Area of Bakersfield. You get more than what you paid for, the staff is very professional, and breakfast is great! You can tell the hotel is locally owned and it has a "feel at home" policy implemented within its walls and staff. The price was great! The cookies were delicious and a nice surprise. The beds were comfortable. It was nice to have coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave in the room. A breakfast was included but missed out - we got there too late closed at 10:00am. We would stay here again. Very close to Downtown. The Amtrak is only a few blocks. The staff was very kind, especially Jesse, the desk clerk. You need a key to get on the elevator. I felt very safe because of that feature. This is the first time I see that at a hotel and I think that's brilliant!. The hot breakfast was a nice surprise considering the value. It's not fancy but it's clean, the beds are comfortable and I was we'll rested. The HD flat screens and the breakfast made up for the 1-star rating. Staff was friendly and helpful. I got more than what I paid for. Front desk staff was very kind and helpful. Great deal for the cost, room was clean and location wad good. Would stay again. I really enjoyed it and I like it like that staff. I also like the fact that supposed to say the least 24 hours a day. Staff, large room, quiet, clean, near freeway, near Amtrak, very inexpensive stay, safe, and 24 hour front clerks. I liked the variety of breakfast foods available. It created a cozy atmosphere of warmth and care for the guests. The customer service is the best I have ever seen or experienced. I will never stay anywhere else in that area. It was a great value for my money.. the waffles were delicious and the room was a decent size. I liked that the value was worth it. Nice breakfast items and staff was nice. I marked solo traveler which I was not. On traveling choices there should be other - we were 2 ladies - my sister and I not any of the list to choose from. They did not provide Kleenex. The toilet seat was cheap and did not feel comfortable when you sat on the lid. Missing a mattress cover on one bed. Breakfast could last until 11:00am for late sleepers. Gets sold out so book ahead of time!. No bacon!. Needs more heat in the wintertime. building was old but clean. Non smoking but hotel the elevator smelled like smoke. not being able to smoke outside by the pool or in the courtyard. Bakersfield is cold at night. Hotel was fine but the weather is bipolar, warm in the day and cold at night. Check weather before you go to pack appropriately. This is an old building with numerous creaks and groans in the flooring. Slightly run down. Room smelled of smoke but was supposed to be non smoking?. Elevator out of service. Air conditioning and refrigerator. Ice machine isn't working. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper - there was a loud fan or some other mechanical sound all night, and I could hear my neighbor's tv, etc. No in-room heat control. Pillows were hard (one) or lumpy (the other). Price is "budget" for downtown area, but I don't feel it was worth the $10-25 saved over some other hotels. I've stayed in funky European budget places in which I was happier. The facility needs some major repairs. the windows in my room were old and the glass didn't fit properly and I could fit my car key between the glass and frame. Broken ice machine, elevator. Breakfast was not good, and there was nobody restocking waffle mix which was really the staple of their breakfast. do not know. Room in disrepair and a groundskeeper that never arrived to fix anything, felt unsafe, family with domestic violence behavior next door that I had to overhear because the walls were so thin, very dirty carpets, dead bug in the bathroom, etc. Everything. The tv, ice machine,wi-fi, did not work. No microwave in room as advertised. No waste basket. 2 towels, 1 was cloth. Only 2 pillows without pillow cases. Coffee, cream only, no sugar or sweetner and only very flimsy plastic water cups to use for coffee. Ended up leaving before morning. Hot day, room never cooled, had To go out an buy fan at local cvs, remote on tv didn't work, carpet very very dirty,, Worst of all in the empty tissue box Had a syringe in it,,, took it down an gave it to hotel clerk..Never would I recommend this hotel to anyone!!!. rugs were filthy. breakfast eggs were frightening. A girl at the reception was really slow,it took her about half an hour to check us in, she had to call somebody to ask things. It was a Frifay night and it seemed that all other hotel guests are bikers and drunk companies. There was a room with an open door at our floor, it was so dirty inside and all these drunk people going around with no shoes. Somebody piked in the elavator and it smelled terrible. A back in our room was not working at all. The price is too high for these conditions... Tried to overcharge us and told me they couldn't refund me until their manager comes in which is another week. Almost $70 I have yet to be given back. There was a bullet hole in the window and no screen. Vent was falling off and there was a hole in the wall where the door knob would hit the wall and also the extra lock was broken off. I felt unsafe the whole time and could barely sleep. Seems cheap but not worth it at all. Staff was horrible, and they tried to overcharge by more than $70.
