Super friendly and accommodating staff, comfy and spacious room, pretty
good location (for someone who didn't come with a car), safe and
pleasant. Fridge in the room was good and not overly cold. Shower
worked well, plenty of hot water. Good air in the room (not stuffy, not
at all smelly).
The rooms were tastefully decorated, up to date, and clean. Location in
city center was next to Kern River and close to Amtrak. It was quiet and
felt very safe. Staff was accomodating. The Mexican restaurant next door
provided a good meal and service. No complaints. A great value.all reviews »
Comfortable, clean rooms within walking distance of downtown Bakersfield. Good breakfast - especially if you dont mind waiting at the waffle machine. Don't miss eating at Noriega's Basque restaurant in Bakersfield - it's a unique experience.
The Mexican restaurant was outstanding!!! Would return to Manual's just for the dinner! The staff there wers very friendly, especially Morgan in the registration area and Maria in the restaurant.
Standard hotel room with a fridge and TV. Clean and tidy. Swimming pool in the inner courtyard. I would recommend.

Girl that checked us in was friendly and efficient. For us the location was good. We had booked it, like lots of others, because Bakersfield is a resting point half way in our road trip. However I discovered there was an ice hockey game at the stadium on the one night we stayed. Turned out to be across the road. Great fun.
They tried to keep things clean and they were for the most part.
Price.
Breakfast was decent but, for me, not perfect; I think they reheated the
same batch of oats every day, and most days they didn't have yogurt
in the fridge. But these are minor complaints and I think most everyone
will enjoy the waffle maker : ).
My email from letsbookhotel.com stated a 12:00 check in time. The Hill House check in time was actually 3PM. I arrived at noon, after showing them the email they were very accommodating and got me a room.
There were no restaurants open, in the area close by, when we checked in about 6pm. We had to get in the car and drive to find somewhere to have dinner.
The soda machine did not work.
The carpet in hallway/stairs looked dirty.

Two cockroaches in our room. There's a water course/floodway thing that runs through the property and attracts mosquitoes. Breakfast was a bit of a joke. Other guests cleared it like locusts before us; we asked for some things (like orange juice) to be replenished but the staff just ignored us. Nice swimming pool but right beside the floodway thing.
The carpets were wet in my room and the cleaner and old wet carpet smell gave me a headache and made it feel dirty. They only put out whipped spread for breakfast, which is like poisoning your customers. Other BW's put out real butter as an option. NO yogurt, or fruit for breakfast either. The Bathroom was stocked with only one towel. There was no city guide in the room to suggest possible places to eat.
