Leisure breaks, romantic weekends away, weddings and special interest packages are all available. The hotel has been awarded 2 AA rosettes for its food.

We have stayed before and the standards have varied but we were very comfortable. Warn against over zealous staff. We were challenged for "running" on the first morning. room decor was lovely with a clear view over the cathedral.The food was of very good quality and reasonably priced, the staff were friendly and helpful. The Hotel was very comfortable and the staff very attentive.

Nice hotel.Having booked a four poster bedroom, which was very comfortable.I would have expected drapes around the bed, which proved in their abscence a little disappointing, however this appears to be normal practice these days, as you are not the first hotel not to offer this around which is traditionally the expected. This is not a complaint by any means but an observation which could be built upon. The hotel car park approach does not cause trouble unless you are in process of coming through and another car also from the opposite direction. We were involve in a long reverse. Could have been unnecessarily contentious. Suggested to the reception that they should fit a traffic light system urgently.A little disappointed that the dinner menu only had one minor change in the chioces available on the second evening, despite the hotels literature stating that the menu changes each evening. We expected a little more than just a different fish choice!. Parking was a bit tricky.Extras are expensive ie tea, coffee, lager, wine etc. The carpet in the bedroom was in need of vacuuming ie a previous guest's toenail clippings etc in evidence. I requested at reception that this be done but either the vacuum was useless or the request went by the way. Hadn't been properly dusted either.Dining room lacks character, also no draught local bitter. No wonder why the wireless was free. Absolutely hopeless...
