Debbie & John are fantastic hosts. By the way, so is Luka. The breakfast buffet was an abundance of 100% English fare, and quite good. Their knowledge of the area was invaluable, especially for seasoned travelers such as ourselves. They offered particular sights sometimes looked over by other travelers. The hospitality, warmth, comfort, & relaxation of Hilbury Court Hotel was a special treat while visiting England.
all reviews » A lovely Victorian house with lovely people. It felt homely. That is the feeling you get from Hilbury Court - you just feel at home. The staff are really friendly but equally are very proficient. Great breakfast but you must also stop for an evening meal because it must have the best restaurant in Trowbridge. Wonderful stop - we will be back. If you're driving -- this s a perfect location for visiting sites in Bath area and western Wiltshire. It's a 30 min drive from Bath, where it was problematic to get an accomodation, about same from Lacock and Longleat Safari Park is also under 40 minutes drive. Very welcoming friendly family run hotel where you are made to feel at home on a first name term basis and they do all they can to make all their guests feel welcomed always a happy to help with nothing being to much trouble. Owners and staff were fantastic, really helpful, and good fun too ! They were lovely with my 8yr old daughter. Evening meal was excellent, all of us had lovely meals. I will definitely book again when in the area next. Very friendly owners, interested and chatty. Lovely and warm Hotel on a cold weekend. They apologised our room had not been modernised but everything was fine with ensuite 4 poster bed and good value for money. The hotel was lovely and John the owner was great even when a power cut caused a bit of chaos! Both dinner and breakfast was spot on and we would definately go back. We were made to feel very welcome. Staff extremely accommodating and helpful. Rooms comfortable and more than adequate for overnight stay to Christmas Market, Rooms kept warm and well stocked with bathroom and tea making accessories . 2nd time I have stayed here and very very good just got better. The location was lovely, on the edge of Bath and Somerset, with some great cultural stuff nearby. The staff were really friendly, and breakfast was great. Welcome,breakfasts.... Car is needed to stay here. Even the nearest pub is a pretty long walk away (20 minuts probably) and was not that easy to find. Nothing !. Rough Driveway and parking area got very big puddles in the rain. Perhaps due for a resurface, but don't let that put you off. As with a lot of hotels, unfortunately other guests can be very inconsiderate and the door banging started about 7am. Perhaps a sign asking for consideration for other guests as some hotels have. Room a little small to hold single and double bed, but booking was made last minute and staff did all they could to accommodate needs. Nothing. Our room was below a very noisy one, the ceiling was very thin and the folk upstairs were up and about until 2am on our second night there, dropping what sounded like bowling balls on their floor, and our ceiling. Someone also took a dog for a walk at midnight in the garden outside our door. The second night we just couldn't sleep. John the owner is making excellent progress with refurbishment and I have no doubt this will soon be a really super hotel. I look forward to staying there again very soon. Nothing. nothing comes to mind. Got lost getting there. Don't follow the satnav to the road behind, that is full of houses. The hotel is on the main road into Trowbridge, very easy to find. The decor, as the mgr advised they were renovating the rooms but started downstairs with the bar area and dining room which were lovely. Lumpy pillows and noisy upstairs neighbours. lack of shower. nothing. The bathroom was still getting renovated and his wife seemed off handed these where the only two spoilers. Nothing really My expectations were not high so for the money the hotel is good value. Mediocre/basic shower (just a hose with hot and cold taps) Noise from other room through connecting (locked!) door. It was a bit noisy in the evenings as we were underneath the dining room. Nothing. nothing. Nothing. Lighting in room could have been brighter. Shower room could have been larger. Driveway not good on a wet day. Blinds did not block out the morning light. although adequate for the length of our stay,some furnishings and the shower could do with improving.
