The staff were very friendly and helpful - we had a very warm welcome and they were happy to share local knowledge with us to help us enjoy our stay. The refurbished parts of the hotel were beautiful and very comfortable. Also, it was very easy to find in Shepton Mallet. Friendly and attentive staff together with a good menu and excellent well prepared cuisine. Good value for money. The dining aspect was excellent. The chef was congratulated for all meals.Breakfast. We paid £100 for the room and it would have been nice to have the full cooked breakfast included in that price - but this didn't put us off the hotel and the cooked breakfast that we had was very good (quality ingredients cooked very well). Triple room was in the attic, stairs up very dangerous for young children. Interesting plumbing, pipes in bathroom rattled when water or toilet used. Just felt the room rate was a little expensive.The room was somewhat basic and needs improvement. Very nerow "double bed". Could not get in on first arrival; you have to call them! I was really cross about that as I would have been stuck had I not had a mobile phone with a signal! As for the advertised parking, there is space for 2-3 cars at best and 2 of these appear to be taken by the owners. And the advertised internet - if you get a room within distance of the router; I had 0-1 bar signal!.
