  The hotel is in a gorgeous old building in a quiet neighberhood a bit away from the city. It has the hallmarks of past elegance but is showing its age. However, for cyclist weary from a long day on the road, we loved its lack of pretension. We had a huge room with a gorgeous view over the river. Staff was friendly and helpful and meals were ex... what people say » cellent. Depending on weather, seating was either outside on a patio or inside full glass, but both were overlooking the garden and the river. It was - The location within yards of the South West Coastal Path. Main bus route at the end of the road. Just a short 1/2 mile walk along the path opposite the hotel to the centre of Bideford. Breakfast was very good, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Cycle hire on the Tarka Trail in approx 1 mile away. The view from the bedroom and dining room over the fiver was superb.

  I see that others have complained about the windows. We stayed during an Atlantic gale and the windows were completely soundproof. The staff are bright and cheerful and the carpark is massive. Very pleased and will be going again in a few weeks. - The location of the hotel and the sea view room were superb. The provision of car parking facilities ... what people say » was much appreciated in an area surrounded by parking meter zones.
