Very good location, comfortable, tea/coffee making facilities, well functioning climate control (it was really hot in Manchester when we were visiting), no noise from the street (and Oxford Rd is a busy one), easy to get everywhere, including main universities (we were for the graduation week).
Perfect city center location, close 2 nightlife and even has a 24hr SPAR shop nxt door, friendley staff,easy checkin/out good view from our room, very clean n comfatable and reasonably priced car parking that was safe and close to hotel. A good package all in all.all reviews »
I enjoyed the facilities (comfortable bed, nice big desk). I was already familiar with the hotel as I stayed at Holiday Inn express in Utrecht, the Netherlands in the past.
Great location. For me that had to be at the University, it was very close.
Fantastic location! We'd asked for a quiet room at the back of the hotel when booking which they accommodated perfectly - room 604 - lovely and quiet even though the hotel is right on the road. Staff were all excellent.
Stayed for one night and was pleasantly suprised. Rooms were good, could do with a bit more power in shower and what a bonus breakfast was included. Bit of a line to get food but for the price you can go wrong!.

The room was clean and comfortable. The TV had a wide selection of channels and the free breakfast was adequate. The bathroom facilities were excellent with very nice dispensed shower gel/ soap.

Facilities were good and position in relation to the city was good. Bus & rail stations were almost on the doorstep.

The light in the bathroom was not working and there was no shower gel the first day i stayed in the room. i had to inform someone.

There was a constant humming noise coming from the bathroom extractor fan which wouldn't turn off. Once the sun hit through, it became very hot inside- more ventilation was needed and the air con didn't go low enough. Some of the staff weren't particularly friendly, especially the night doorman.

This hotel is understaffed. There were between 20 and 30 people queing in reception to check out. It was total chaos. The staff could not cope. Also, the breakfast area is too small to serve the number of people in the hotel.

I didn't like the fact that payment for the room wasn't charged during check-in. Instead, my card was pre authorised which I did not like.
The dining area for breakfast is a little small considering the number if people that can be accommodated in the hotel. Therefore, I didn't make use if the inclusive breakfast.
WiFi did not work properly. Downloading speed was only 1-1.5 Mbs, but
uploading was just a few kbs. Impossible to work. (I did get a refund)

The people around us were very noisy. Also there was annoying machine noise at night that distracted us from sleep for a couple of days. The last night the electricity shut off in our room and got relocated to a new room. The breakfast needs some variation everyday the same food served.
Bed was very creaky everytime you moved, also a fairly small double in
comparison to some hotels.

The bathroom was very convenient but when having shower the water did not run down the drain very easy so therefore nearly having a flood in the bathroom.
One lift was out of order meaning queues at the other during peak times.

The sofa bed had a lot of exposed metal mechanism that was not very safe for young children. My daughter got quite a nasty scratch from it. There wasn't a single cupboard or drawer to store things. When the sofa bed was in use the whole room was literally bed. I wouldn't stay here again unless I was travelling without the children.
In 3 months of touring the UK , this was the only hotel we were asked to pay for WIFI connection, and then it wouldn't allow me to send any email, only receive. Staff tried to help but couldn't resolve the issue at all.

The hotel doesn't offer lunch and dinner.. only breakfast. So you have to buy food from nearby ressturants.
Cant really say there was anything we didnt like just thought the breakfast could have had more choice of the hot foods like bacon mushrooms ect scrambled egg was quite dry and didnt taste like proper scrambled egg.
all we needed was a fridge in the room to make it a perfect city break.

The windows didn't open so very warm, they did have an air conditioning unit in the room which helped.
