  We searched long and hard online to find a good, affordable hotel in central London. This one is it (along with the Nadler, a few streets east).   My husband and I stayed at the South Place Hotel for a week's vacation. The hotel is in the heart of the business district, so it is a quieter neighborhood on the weekends, but bustling during the week. There are a number of nearby pubs, and a Marks & Spencer across the street if you require groceries.
