No fuss. On arrival, we used the codes and went straight in. There were no staff, but we didn't need anything anyway. We came and went as we pleased. The accommodation was more than ample for our overnight stay.
The accomodation was clean , with welcome touches such as tea/ coffee facilities, soap sachets, fluffy towels , nice big comfortable double beds.all reviews
The bed was amazingly comfy and it was a nice little place to stay in for a night.

We booked a room with a shared bathroom, on arrival we found that we had been upgraded to what they termed a suite. We only paid £8pppn. The Hill House is centrally located, and as we only needed somewhere to lay our head it was ideal.
After reading the reviews I was apprehensive, however if you are after somewhere cheap, and not looking for much I would recommend it.

Extremely basic, if you just want a bed to sleep in and a shower then its fine.
For a budget overnight 'head down' it does what it sets out to do.

The shower wasn't very powerful, but okay. We couldn't get the TV to work, but didn't really need it anway.
The tea and coffee made me really ill.

You are given a key code to enter the property, I only found out that we had been upgraded, when the key code didn't work.
There is no-one on site if there are any problems, but after trying a couple of times, the phone was answered, and we were given the correct key code.

There is little to dislike for a budget stay...but it does feel very 'budget'...just be aware of this.
It was not clear what 'codes' were required - as there are no dedicated hotel staff this could have been a problem had it not been for two of the restaurant staff who were just going home when I arrived.

I could not lock my door. I phoned to tell you but it was not mended over the w/e so when drunken revellers were shouting at 4am I was unable to complain as I did not feel secure!.
A bit run down.
when i arrived the code for my room did not work I called in and was told I was emailed as my room had been changed. I was not emailed in regard to this and I was lucky I had the phone number as there was no one around to ask.
I didnt see any staff so that was unusual, had to call a number to get access.
There is nothing to dislike if you accept that when you pay 'budget' that is what you get.
Bed very old and uncomfortable, toilet seat loose, shower was pathetic, no outside light to help you see to input code and finally the noise of the other guests; slamming doors and shouting and swearing - would have got more sleep if we'd spent a night in the cells of the local police station. Hell House Hotel more like!.

The room stank of stale smoke.
The walls were paper thin.
The room was filthy.
They don't deal with complaints at all and are happy to create any lie possible to get out of dealing with a complaint.
Am considering legal action to recover cost of having to book an alternative hotel for the second night.
