I thought the hotel's location on a roundabout may be a problem but in reality it was never an issue. Our room had secondary glazing and was very quiet at night. The hotel was friendly and I was very happy with our choice of location. They had their own parking but there were plenty of public car parks close at hand as well, although we never needed them. The rear of the hotel had a garden area separated from the road by a tall wall and was visually very impressive- it looked as old as the cast.

All members of staff were professional and helpful - attentive to our every need, even anticipating the needs of our group. The hotel was delightful, full of character and the location just 5 minutes walk from the town center was ideal. The breakfast was generously proportioned and there was ample choice. Staff were very friendly. We had a ground floor room as requested which was very large and slept 4, so the two of us had lots of space. Good breakfast. Plenty of food and staff were very happy to cook whatever variation of breakfast was requested. A great hotel. Very classic english house, cosy and comfortable accomodations. Family owned with a silver service from the staff. A fee private park, so rare also has to be mentioned. A very recommended place to stay for visiting Canterbury. The only complaint was the bar - it seemed to take the bartender numerous trips backwards and forwards to produce one drink, and they did not have any brandy, which was a surprise. although we enjoyed our stay and the room was nice clean and tidy I would not go as far to say it was "good" value for money, but given its location in Canterbury I suppose you can expect to pay premium rate, that's not to say I wouldn't stay again. The weather - but that was not the hotel's fault!. The shower water pressure could have been better. Car park rather small and cramped - watched one driver have to reverse out blind onto the road - Sunday morning so quiet but risky move. Really nothing quite important. Our only negative was that the bed was not the best. just a little far from the Canterbury west station but closed to east station. (I took the eurostar first and then transferred to Canterbury. all train depart from st. pancras only to the west station:(. Noise insulation is very poor in the twin room beside reception. You will be woken up early!. Because the hotel is easy to find, it is right on the main road and if you have a room on the roadside, can be rather noisy with traffic, sirens, etc. We were given room #1 which we were later told was the smallest room in the hotel and was overlooking the road. The room was so small we had to leave our (somewhat large) suitcases in the car. If you book this hotel, be sure to ask for a specific room away from the road. Room was a little small; overall it was expensive for the package. Having to leave. Perhaps a little more variation for breakfast. Shower pressure wasn't great but probably not the hotels fault - was always good and hot though!. The room we had this time was opposite the breakfast room which was noisy in the morning no good if you wanted a lazy start as breakfast was from 7.30am. Nothing. Nothing!. Our room was on the ground floor which was nice but very noisy in the morning, as everyone had to pass by us. Nothing. narrow stairs to our room, but we managed and room was larger than we anticipated. Shower pressure quite poor. Very small TV for size of room. We paid £120 per night. I think £80 per night would have been more in keeping with the hotel. nothing!. Nothing. Nothing. room was too warm and couldn't turn off heated towel rail. Room a little on the small side, though no big deal as we were only staying 1 night. The shower was less powerful than I am used to. Bar was not welcoming. Nothing.
