With free off-road parking, The Coach House is close to the Dane John Gardens. The house is away from traffic, yet a short walk from Canterbury’s famous cathedral, Norman Castle, central shopping and Canterbury East Railway Station. Originally built as a coach house in 1807, the house still retains many of its original features, whilst being updated to offer all many modern comforts. A full English breakfast or continental buffet is included in the price. Local and organic produce is used wherever possible.

Location was fantastic, we parked the car in our allocated spot and didnot have to use it again until we left. 30 seconds walking distance totown centre and 5 mins to Canterbury Cathedral. Family run b and b veryfriendly and very clean had a lovely stay. The Coach House is a delightful place. Great service provided and lovelyrooms. The hotel is not even 5 minutes away from the city centre.

Separate toilet for room 1, but not used by anyone else. slightly strange en-suite but not a problem. No washbasin in the room. Awkward to have to fill the kettle with the shower. There should be a statement about the stairs. I use a walking stick and it was difficult. Having the toilet on the landing was a slight disappointment. Even though mushrooms and tomatoes were on the menu, we were told they had not been delivered yet. Obviously a stock problem which was the managements fault.

Information about the area

Canterbury is a world heritage Cathedral City lying on the River Stour in the county of Kent – the ‘Garden of England’. The city is stepped in history, most famous for its Roman occupation in the first century AD, Thomas Becket’s in murder the Cathedral in 1170 and Geoffrey Chaucer’s 14th-century literary classic The Canterbury Tales. In the surrounding areas there is plenty to see, including the white cliffs and Dover Castle or Howlets Wildlife Park, where you can see African elephants, Siberian tigers and troops of gorillas.
