The new Martins Bar and Grill restaurant was voted Best Informal Dining Restaurant in Scotland at the Scottish Hotel of the Year Awards in 2006.

Upgrade to executive suite for no extra charge. Leisure Club facilities and very friendly and helpful staff who made you feel very welcome. Breakfasts were excellent too. We enjoyed our stay very much. Well sited in relation to Ayr town centre . Delightful views of Arran. Staff very efficient and friendly.The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bedroom was very clean and the bed was comfortable.

High bar prices. We arrived on the day of a wedding and the wedding guests took preference - not the best of welcomes. very very noisey plumbing which woke me at 4.00am. This was my first visit and I have stayed in many hotels all over the world and it compared well. The bedroom being in an outhouse which meant walking through car park to access main hotel building.The airconditioning units placed outside the windows made a noise andkept me awake all the night. It was like sleeping inside a tumble dryer. The food was awful.Disappointed in few things--not major but did not expect from hotel with 4 star rating; e.g. bread at dinner was extra; peanuts with a cocktail were extra; music too loud in dining room; T.V in bar so loud could be heard in dining room (in addition to the music!). food could have been better. we only had dinner one night not good. level of cleaning rooms was poor. Dust on doors, floors and draws had old biscuits left from previous guests. Gym is very small more than two people in there and it would be considered busy inside this small room.We did not get a wink of sleep due to noise from either water pipes or air conditioning unit (unsure which it was) and on complaining were only told maintenance would be informed. Have since e-mailed manager at hotel but received no reply. The bed sheets were not changed. In the shower it was difficult to get a suitable water temperature, then water suddenly changed to scalding hot and i was hurt. We feel that we could have been in a cheaper end of scale hotel and not known the difference. Aside from 2 exceptions, the staff were not attentive in the bar/grill area.staff veryunfriendly, conflicting standards across the guests, bathroom tiles are black with mould!.

The Fairfield House Hotel's guests enjoy excellent cuisine and comfort in our newly refurbished Martins Bar and Grill (opened June 2005). Martins Bar and Grill was voted 'Best Informal Dining' Restaurant at the Scottish Hotel of the Year Awards 2006. Our chef ensures that the food reflects the best of fresh local produce and that everything is cooked to order, ensuring the flavour is at it's best. A range of fine wines are carefully selected to compliment the range of dishes on offer and a range of Scotland's finest Malt Whiskies have also been collected to add the perfect finishing touch. Private dining is also available within the Fairfield for any number from 2 to 100. The Fairfield Suite can be reserved for the larger events and dinners.
