The hotel is not directly in the areas most frequented by tourists but close enough to walk. For example, it's about 1 km to the Cathedral and Alcazar passing through the Murillo Gardens and the Barrio Santa Cruz. We asked for and received a very quiet room in the back on an upper floor. Now the renovations to the reception area have been completed give or take a few finishing touches, the hotel is excellent. It's so handy for the centre of the city.

The great advantage of the Alcazar is its location. It is easy to access from the highway. You can walk to all of the historic sites, while leaving your car in hotel parking. Parking is difficult in Seville. The breakfast buffet provides a wide choice of options. The rooms are comfortable.Excellent position and although we were on the main road, the double-glazing minimised the noise and we had a wonderful view of the Murillo Gardens and thhe Giralda. Fantastic location 5 minute walk through the park into the Santa cruz location, dont be put off that its on a main road you cant hear any traffic. Very friendly staff, very clean. A little noisy with the windows open but it didn't really bother us.A bit tricky to find but once you're nearby there are plenty of signs. i did'nt have parking for the car and the parking in the hotel was very expensive for us. The breakfast could have been better. The walls are paper thin, so if you are located next to a student group on holiday, you will hear the noise!. The renovations being carried out gave the Reception area the look of a bombsite! The lift is for 4 people but there is no warning that 4 people's luggage will overburden the lift-so we got stuck! We were not between floors -just a foot above ground level, but couldn't open the door. I must say that the hotel staff were all extremely helpful and comforting to one of the party who was very upset. The car park is very tight for driving into and parking but the car was safe there the whole stay. There were no clocks in the room and there were no instructions regarding the use of the phone ie how to make outside calls and how to call the front desk. I needed to dial "0" for an outside line and "9" for the front desk - opposite of the US. No screens on the window, so I ended up with a mosquito in the room and have several bites!. It is next to a main road and maybe a bit noisy ... that didnt disturb me but it could be a disadvantage. at time of our stay public areas were under renovation so some noise during day. The view from the window was in the inner court - so what I saw was a wall.. But for one/two nights stay it doesn't really mater.room was small,typical of Europe and didn't accept American Express cards (which I use for all travel). The aircondition was not working during all hours of the day.the room was cold. I called again in person to book or the 24th Oct but the price had gone up. the sound and smell. The noise - the door was too thin ..so I can hear everything from the outside and the bathroom beside my room.the noice of the nearby main avenue. possibly the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in - woke up with backache each day. Bed was too short. Thin walls. too old, the furniture is old and has a specific odor, while there is no fridge. the location is ok but the hotel is not really in the old center of the city (is at the border let's say :O)). The breakfast. car parking. Basic. I didn't like to be there in the middle of a refurbishment. It is a bit noisy as well.Aircon only operates sporadically. hotel is undergoing refurbishment of public areas and the beds were too short for Northern Europeans. The aircomditioning broke, the only saving grace was we had a privateterrace, if it hadn't been for that we would have melted.

Travelling information

From Cordoba, Madrid and the Airport: coming in from the highway on Kansas City Avenue, you will find on your right the train station Santa Justa. There is a roundabout in front of the station, go around it to the left, passing in front of the Occidental Hotel. Go straight on and turn right at the next crossing into Avenue Luis Montoto. Go straight ahead until the end of this avenue and turn left. Now you are in the avenue of our hotel. Go straight ahead and you will find Murillo´s gardens. The hotel is just in front. Follow the avenue and after 200 MTS. You find a roundabout.
