Location great - short walk from station and right in middle of old town. Virtually all areas of interest accessible on foot - we didn't need public transport. Close to numerous restaurants etc. large room. The location is fantastic, in the "Casco Viejo" of Bilbao, near stores, bars, restaurants and very near the tram and the river. The staff was nice and helpful. The hotel was clean and spatious.

The location was amazing, right in the heart of Casco Viejo. With easy access to everything, including the tranvia and metro, I has no problems and could focus on having fun. Its location is definitely its selling point, as Hotel Gurea is right in the thick of it in Bilbao's 'casco viejo', surrounded by the town's vibrant nightlife and at a short walk from the Guggenheim museum. The noise outside was nearly unbearable, particularly in a city that hardly sleeps. Better isolation is required. The water heater in my room was broken so the hot water was erratic. As others have mentioned, there is no elevator. But as I told myself puffing and panting with my suitcase, once up and once down. Also the street noise was loud--- not the pension's fault. There is almost no traffic but lots of people enjoying the bars and old friends and the young kids. Part of the experience!. There is no cafe or restaurant in the hotel is only a vending machine for water, coffee and snacks. But this is not real problem. extremely loud at night due to proximity of tapas bars. Only parking in the area costs 17 euros a day. Hotal is up one very long and two slightly shorter flights of stairs. nothing. Quite noisy through most of the day and night. Windows don't have proper shutters so both light and noise can be felt. Located at the 3rd floor of an old building is lacking an elevator. Noisy inside from reception desk and corridors. The hotel occupies the 3rd floor of an charmless building in downtown Bilbao. Rooms and facilities are plainly old. Parking is not included, and you must resort to a nearby public parking charging an hefty €17.5 per night. With its old facilities, no breakfast nor parking included Hotel Gurea ends up being a comapratively poor deal for Bilbao.
