It was very central and the staff could not have been more helpful. We will certainly choose this hotel again, possibly early 2009. spa, change of towels 2 times a day, replenishing of shampoos and other things, clean. Staff is very polite and helpful. i thought the hotel was fabulous, the decor, the ambiance everything, I definatly return and recommend this hotel. Fantastic location, decor was outstanding, staff helpful and the breakfast selection amazing !. the totality of the hotel, very comfortable and nice. Street noisefrom La Rambla itself is noticeable, as well, but the soundproof windowsblock quite a bit of it.Drinks were extremely expensive, twice the price in expensive Ireland.water in the room would have been nice but other than that, it is a perfect hotel.Swimming pool on the roof was out of order, a little disappointing. We had aroom overlooking Las Rambla which was noisy when the rable came home in the early morning 6 am. If you want to go to asleep anytime before 3am, please make sure you don't have the room on the La Rambla side -- noise of cars, people talking/singing, street performance would definitely tell you how sleepless the city is.Room in middle so no view at all.the public rooms were rather dark, due to the colonial style of black, dark wood and browns. door of the room had poor sound isolation so I could hear everything that happened in corridor. Drinks and food expensive. Proper double bed would have been nice. Complicated shower/bath controls. No guidelines on use.the room facing La Rambla was noisy and the duble galssing windows did not do the work....Cost of breakfast. the room is too hot !! seems like AC is not working really well. other than that , it's the best hotel we've ever been to. We recommand this hotel to everyone.The indoor swimming pool was rather cool and therefore pretty uninviting,. Noise from work on nearby building. Drinks were very expensive. staff not helpfull, we asked before our arrival a reservation for a football match at the Barça. They did it but they asked us 120euros for one ticket (in cash!) but when we received it the price on it was 67 euros what we did not accept !. Gadgets in room need explaining on arrival. Air conditioning controls, for example, are inside a wardrobe and, even if you are lucky enough to find them, you can't see them to use them!. Our room was facing the front of the hotel looking onto the Ramblers,Beautiful room. There was a consent vibration from the underground Rail System . This could be heard all day until they closed in the evening.Very disturbing when you are trying to read! If we stayed there again we would definitely not take any of the rooms on the front of the building.no iron in the room, bar too expensive. The twin room we had was a bit small and looked out onto a wall so was always dark. I expected a larger room with natural light. Only other comment is that lack of flexibility in breakfasts served on roof terrace - not possible just to have coffee and pastry - full breakfast or nothing. (The breakfast was lovely!).

El Prat Airport – Hotel 1898.

• By car: Take motorway C-32b in the direction of Barcelona. Take the turn-off marked: “Barcelona – Girona – Lleida –Tarragona - Gran Via - Ciutat Vella”. Drive into the city and once on the Gran Vía you will come to an underpass (Plaza España). Take it and then move into the right-hand lane. Drive on to Calle Balmes, and turn right. Drive until the end of Calle Balmes and take Calle Pelayo, driving on the right-hand lane. At the end of Pelayo, turn right onto La Rambla, drive another 500 m or so, Hotel 1898 is right on the corner of La Rambla and Calle Pintor Fortuny. To access the car park or the reception, turn onto Calle Pintor Fortuny, and stop at the entrance to Hotel 1898 on your left.
• By train and underground: Take the train from the airport and get off at Plaza Catalunya. Walk down La Rambla for about 500 metres. Hotel 1898 is on your right on the corner of La Rambla and Pintor Fortuny. To access the reception, walk down Calle Pintor Fortuny, the entrance is on your left.

• By taxi: Take a taxi from the taxi stand at the airport. The price will be approximately €25–€30, depending on the traffic and the number of suitcases you have with you.
• Aerobús: Take the Aerobús (blue) at the airport and get off at the Plaza Catalunya stop. Walk down La Rambla for about 500 metres. Hotel 1898 is on your right on the corner of La Rambla and Pintor Fortuny. To access the reception, walk down Calle Pintor Fortuny, the entrance is on your left.

• From the AP-18 motorway drive into Barcelona along Av. Meridiana and keep going straight until Calle Aragón. Drive along Aragón until you get to Calle Balmes, and then turn left. Drive until the end of Calle Balmes and take Calle Pelayo, driving on the right-hand lane. At the end of Pelayo, turn right onto La Rambla, drive another 500 m or so, Hotel 1898 is right on the corner of La Rambla and Calle Pintor Fortuny. To access the car park or the reception, turn onto Calle Pintor Fortuny, and stop at the entrance to Hotel 1898 on your left.
