Friendly and very helpful staff - reception and housekeeping alike. You get decent accommodation for your moneys worth! It's a backpacker and not a hotel, and don't forget, you are just paying backpacker prices. And this is one of the cheapest places to sleep in Wellington!! Great atmosphere, wifi on every floor ($5/day) big TV with hundreds of channel, big kitchen with all you need, elevator and nice courtyard to relax and socialise. Rooms are comfy and good beds. I had a good nights sleep!.
all reviews » Close to City. Staff nice. Didnt tell them about wednesdays noise/party/smoking . Thursday night was better, Maybe thay were tired or outa money.. Staff quickly and politely resolved minor misunderstanding over booking, and were friendly and helpful throughout. Very friendly, staff knowledgable helpful. location; dining/lounge area. Nothing. the location is excellent as I was new to wellington the staff has been friendly and they were pretty cool people. I will definetlly cme bak to this place when I cme bak to wellington.......... Nice set up of facilities, and the willingness of staff to accommodate for my needs :). Rooms were easily accessed , easily booked in to . Kitchen facilities were great . Loved the friendly guy that greeted us at the desk! :). Good common area. Some of the staff were very helpful. Location is good, but given Wellington's geography there are very few places that wouldn't be equally as convenient. Great location. Bathrooms need a refurbishment. They were clean though!. noisey party on the wednesday night. was on third floor drunks in the hall way at 1.30am. Noisey as. could smell dope being smoked more than once. Second floor mens' bathroom is badly run down. Noisy, but I used my earplugs and slept well!. no light bulb, (but quickly fixed), food crumbs on desk top in room, showers. Everything, bathrooms were stupid! Only if I could have moved to some other place. the door handler wasn't working probably but they fix it. the rooms were nt being cleaned every day as people cme and go and sleep on the same bed sheet. the wifi was too expensive $5 a day and $25 a week other places are like $12 a week... Rather than that I would rate it 6.5 they could do better. I clicked on to "Single Room" on to the booking site it showed a single bed made up with a white quilted bed cover on it, on further enquiry with the Male Receptionist on the 29th August I was told only bunk beds were used, even in the single room. That doesn't add up with the picture used in the advertising. I made the booking based on the picture, and was disappointed!! Rather than it be seen as "False Advertising" It would be good if that picture was removed from the website. Thank you!. Need more parking. Available for everyone with a car. The wet room bathroom did not have cleaning products available after each use - as it was shared. The dirty and very out dated bathroom/toilet facilities. There wasn't a sheet on my bed so the reception lady said she'll get me one. 30 minutes later still no sheet, I went looking for her but she had ended her shift and gone home! For some dorms you have to walk trough the bar area to get to toilet and shower... Room was way to hot and the heater couldn't be turned off. No clear directions or signs to the women's bathroom on the second floor. It is a bit of a smelly place. the clean of the bathroom. Organisation of rooms. 11 people in a 10 bed dorm and also not easy to tell which beds are free. Cleanness was terrible. I don't think they clean their rooms constantly. Furthermore, it was very noisy because this lodge is located in near a wide road. Finally, many facilities(especially for toilets and shower rooms) were not available, because they were broken. Thus in my case, I used 2nd floor toilet for shower, even if my room was located in ground floor. Inability of staff to enforce basic rules, mess in kitchen and toilets, street noise. the bathroom was a discrace lights didnt work and no linen supplied. Disgustingly Dirty! Many lights not working. The shower was not cleaned at all from the Friday to Sunday I was there, there was a full colostomy bag sitting there along with used female sanitary pads the whole time. I would say by the looks of them they had been there for quite some time. I have stayed in many backpackers but none that have curdled my stomach as much as this place, I would never stay there again!. I was in a room next to the elevator. Every time someone used it, it sounded like crash starting the Millenium Falcon, we'd travel a few parsecs before Zchewie would drop a bag of space anvils in the next room and it would stop. I was also sleeping on the bottom bit of a two piece mattress, you know, the one with the springs stick up. Also the light didn't work. Facilities. The smell out of the elevator was rank! It smelt like rotten eggs, having people outside the front door smoking blocking the door was intimidating as it felt you were being scanned as you were walking in. We werent given what we expected when we booked,its false advertising on the website. The place is filthy & overpriced for what it is. Beds were uncomfortable and sheets & bedding were old and dirty looking. Poor sound insulation means loud lift can be heard all night. Window in room broken so unable to be closed. Bathrooms are disgusting (vomit in shower at 9am, cisterns on toilet leaking, rotting wood on shower walls) and pose a safety hazard (live wires exposed above sink in one bathroom). It's a hostel, sure, but the state of this place really beggars belief. After having to push past a bunch of people smoking on the front doorstep. We found the lodge to be extremely dirty the room was nothing like what was pictured on the website. The bathroom was dirty to the point that we just could not even think about using it. All in all not a good place to stay. Everything!! This is the worst hotel in New Zealand: every thing is dirty, old, smelt!!! We had to sleep in a ex bathroom!!! One good advice: do not go there even if it is cheap!!!. place is so dirty and you can hear all the noises inside the room.
