We loved the fact that the room was absolutely silent and bliss for a good nights sleep. The large size cosmetics were terrific as it meant we could enjoy a proper bath without running out of bath foam! The mini one day bottles of bath/shower gel that most hotels provide barely provide enough for a quick shower so we loved the fact that Canal House had considered this. One of the reasons we chose Canal House was the garden which exceeded our expectations as a comfortable and beautiful place to chill out, read and enjoy a pre-dinner aperitif. As I needed to rest my foot one day, it was a particularly welcome amenity. The hotel is a jewel. We liked everything. The staff, the décor, the room design and cleanness, the breakfast. The beds are super conformable. One of the best hotels we ever stayed in. If you stay there you will never forget it. The staff was very accommodating. One morning they provided breakfast for us very early, and one evening they kept the bar open late all to accomadate our specific schedules. The garden is beautiful. Lovely little hotel. I love the design of the hotel, a touch of modern yet keeping the Canal house charm. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The only downside was the poor performance of the air conditioning. It is more like comfort cooling really and as we were located on the top floor, there were restrictors on our windows so we could only open them a little. The room could have been a little larger (room to stretch etc.) with more storage. The bath tub is in same room as the bed which is great for couples on romantic escape but may not be so great if you are not in romantic relationships. Personally there was nothing I did not like. - The "Better room" category has view to an internal lightwell which is not a nice view - but admittably this is correctly stated in the room description - so no reason to complain. Nothing. the fact we didnt stay for longer!. a bit strange to pass through the kitchen to reach the elevator (smells a bit) but the smell does not reach the bedroom!. No evening meals in restaurant (online info still referred to this). This was not a significant problem due to the many restaurants within easy reach and the hotel recommendations. Pillows had a damp smell but that was probably due to the climate and not the hygiene of the hotel. no tea or coffee making facilities in room - although room service deliver very efficiently. Couldn't fault it. It was our Wedding Anniversary and they offered us a free glass of prosecco - considering the amount we spent, we thought it would have been more generous to offer us a bottle. Room a bit small. We were in rather a noisy room , not just outside noise which you expect in Amsterdam but inside from the hotel. You could hear the staff cleaning in the morning and a lot of noise from the staircase behind our room. I would go back but would request a quiet room. Breakfast tends to be a bit repetitive. As the kitchen is on the way to the rooms the hallway gets a bit smelly during meal times, though only on the ground floor and not in the rooms, which are upstairs. The Good Room was really small. For stays longer than a couple of days we would recommend a bigger room. Only small problem was quite a hot room!. The Canal View rooms can be noisy at times...... There is nothing we did not like. The orange juice, coul be freshier. nothing. There is no gym.... Stairs that are nearly vertical and hop elevator. geen gevonden. The only set back is very noisy.
