We really loved the room. I was suprised that the facility was right on the money from your photos on line. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Hotel was right off one on the busy squares were people gathered to mingled, shop, or dine and that was a plus. The Boat Cruise was right down the street from the hotel which we used to tour the city canals. Public transportation was right ther. all reviews
This is a great hotel based on value for money. The rooms compared to many in Amsterdam are very nice, rooms are comfortable a good size and with all amenities. The location is fabulous, and the hotel is quiet! The food is first class (although a little expensive) and the Americain Cafe bar is very cool!!. Good location and great front desk. Upon arrival, the very helpful frontdesk (Matilda) provided the option (for 50 Euros) to check in early in adifferent room; since we had travelled overnight and arrived very earlyA.M., we appreciated the chance to rest. The Hotel was incredible, the service was great, the room was very very good with a king size bed and a flat screen and the price was very competitive, the best thing was the location, it could not be better....I will most likely come back.We have stayed at this hotel twice before and go back because of the location, staff, comfort in room and history surrounding the hotel. I would go back again as our experience this time was equally as good as before.Location was perfect! Tram was right outside door as well as canal tours. Restaurants, shops, bars just steps away. Size and comfort of room were great, very quiet. Staff were very helpful and cordial.Hotel was easy to reach by tram and the staff were excellent .... very helpful. I would definitely stay there again and would book Eden hotels in other cities based on my experience in this hotel. The location of the hotel is excellent, close to all the busy areas of Amsterdam. The bed was very comfortable and large. The Bar American is a trendy little place to start the night. The reception staff are very well organized and efficient, the restaurant has a delightful atmosphere, the rooms are very comfortable. Definitely recommended as a good place to stay.excellent location for sightseeing. very impressive surroundings, but not losing sight of friendly and efficient guest service. very comfortable all round. many thanks.Excellent location. Close to concert hall, museums, shopping and public transport. Hotel restaurant is marvelous art deco decor with excellent food.Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The hotel and room was very clean, and the hotel location is absolutely perfect. A perfect stay.Peaceful. Comfortable. Loved the dining room and the service. Excellent menues. Easy access to shopping, museums and other facilities. This hotel was great and well situated. The staff were friendlyand helpful. The art deco restaurant was awesome. The bar had great character.Everything first class except the pillows on the bed, too square, too high, not good for sleeping forthose used to different sizes!!english. I really can't fault anything about the Amsterdam American and would say it's become my all time favourite. This was my fourth stay !!!. we like thr kindness of the hotel staff' the room was excellent' clean and very comfort' and especially the location that was superb/. I had an executive room, and it was large, comfortable and had a lovely view of Leides Square. I will definitely stay there again!. The AMS American is the finest hotel in Amsterdam. The excellent service, rooms, location cannot be topped. Excellent!. very central, very quiet hotel. The concierge(s) are very accommodating. The cafe is nice and serves a good coffee.Everything about the hotel was excellent. This was our second time to stay there and we will be returning.pretty much everything; we stay at the American on a regular basis and it never fails to be near perfect. Very central location, room very quiet despite location (could hear only trams), very friendly staff.Location of Hotel, convience to tram line no 5,2 or 1; ambience of hotel, friendlyness of staff.Large comfortable room with balcony overlooking the canal was fab'. Very well located as well.Location and building itself were interesting and attractive. Very helpful, friendly staff.I liked its location and the bedrooms were spacious. I would definitely stay there again. We were upgraded to a room with a canal view. The location of the hotel was excellent.Beautiful, wonderfully located hotel with very helpful staff and comfortable room. service was excellent, location great and facility was extremely comfortable.Incredible room, very friendly staff, clean, neat....just a great stay!. Excellent Location, Excellent and Couteous Staff, Great Value for money. Wonderful bed! Near by walk of the most important touristic points.Outstanding value for money in a quality hotel. Excellent location.Perfectly situated. Good value with great dining and bar area.Beautiful room and very friendly staff. Great location.sauna available to customers without additional charge. friendliness of staff and cleanliness of room. It was so central and it was a fab hotel. it was very good. great location. Friendly staff and good location. the room, the service. Total relaxation. Friendly staff. Everything. The staff were very helpful and friendly, location was fantastic. Rooms very clean, bed was amazingly comfortable. The TV had a good range of channels, BBC1and2……….. The bus, trams and canal boats are all on the door step literally. Coffee shops and clothes shops are all within a few minutes walking. The hotel bar has a fantastic relax atmosphere, very comfy could have stopped in the bar all week. The Classic room is specious enough and very well design. The bed is proper king size with very comfortable mattress. The location is ideal, about 15 min walking distance to the old city or a few stops tram ride. I could not fault the room or the hotel on any aspect apart from one thing though, which was sound insulation. You could clearly hear every word uttered in the next door room. This is one of the best hotels overall that I have stayed in. It was my second time, and the hotel, it's architecture, location and staff are really superb. It deserves all the allocades that it has won, and it is obvious to see why it continues to do so well. I will most definately return.Comfortable bed in a large quiet canal view room, however this was after I had to pay extra for an upgrade as the first room was too small for a brother and sister sharing, twin beds were joined together.the worst thing I can find to say is that there is no clock on the TV so when I wake during the night I cant see the time! Well... so what ....not really a big issue!!. The room was fine but lacked an element of "warmth" in the decor.Location and room.Parking was expensive!. The prices in the hotel bar were quite expensive. We could not fault the hotel in any way. we would rate it 10/10. Gym/sauna very basic, restaurant rather expensive but a lot of options in the neigbourhoud, get breakfast somewhere else !. The bar was not open for most of the day however we did get a drink in the resturant although this was cut short by preparation for a function - there are plenty of bars outside the hotel though.Excessively expensive breakfast. Restaurant not quite as welcoming as hotel itself.Given the price, it was disappointing that breakfast was not included, but it wasn't a major issue. It wouldn't prevent me from staying there again.Expensive breakfast.I noticed a bit of wear and tear from my last stay about 5 years ago. The hotel allowed smoking in its hallways and in the lounge areas. I understand that smoking is not banned in public places and bars but I think hallways and thoroughfares should be smoke free and smoking should be allowed in bedrooms only,. Sound insulation. You pay for what you get so if you can afford a larger canal view room then there is nothing to dislike about the room. However, we ordered a snack in the restaurant in the Cafe American bar area and it never arrived and waited a long time for our night cap drinks in the bar.
