I loved the place, nice friendly staff and perfect location and good breakfast. The room was very comfortable and love the bar because it is open 24 hrs and you can take your drinks up to the room. We would stay here again. The rooms were very modern and clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was good. nice rooms, very good beds, nice people, good location.

The toilet pan seems to be back to front which means your your poo doesn't land in the water and you are reliant on a strong flush to pull it in to the water - this has to be done quickly before the smell gets to you. Perhaps you are supposed to somehow sit on the toilet backwards but it wouldn't be the natural position. Bathroom flooded when I had a shower - screen did not fit the bath. Our window was on the side close to kindergarten and every morning was very noisy cause children shouted. American Credit Cards are not accepted.Lack of service at breakfast one day because all tables were full andthere was just one employee taking care of everything (so we had anempty coffee mug, cheese plate, fruit basket...). very coold in the bathroom, no heating and the price where to high for the quality level, even though they have done a redecoration. The room is too small. Bad internet. Stayed there before. Expensive for what is essentially is as refurbishment looks good on photos but tap dripped all night, shower soaked floor and massive rust hole on bath. I think the bar was available all night yet the hotel staff wouldnt serve us Sat night as he'd cleaned the bar! That was strange.Very small rooms. The room was a little dirty(curtains,duvet) and shower was hard to use. also would be nicer to be able to check in a little earlier, 3 pm is quite late in my opinion. most hotels have check in around 11-12.room too small, a kettle and some instant coffee/ tea in the room would be nice. every thing i didnt like it. lower prices.for a double room is a very high price. i ve booked a number with double bed and get instead quad number with unconfortable pseudo double bed. there was quite cold in the room. wi fi signal level was very low.The walls are paper thin. Our first night in the hotel, we were kept up basically all night by a crying child and its screaming mother next door. The tiny window in the room is also very thin, and since the hotel faces rather active traffic, the noise of trams and cars during the morning rush hour will keep anyone in that room awake. The shower was very temperamental. Room was incredibly small, two people couldn't stand there at the same time. Of course, it was written on the general conditions of the hotel before booking it, but this one was small beyond human imagination and I could never expect it. No cakes and pastries for breakfast, they didn't even have croissants.The walls are like paper any noise is very disturbing. Tiny (!) rooms, very uncomfortable, very loud.

Information about the area

This small, in English landscape style created, park in the (Oud Zuid) district,called the Sarphatipark, is a place to escape hectic city life. The 4 hectares large neighbourhood park became completed in 1885 and was named after Dr. Samuel Sarphati (1813- 1866), a gifted idealist, of Jewish origin, who became meritorious
to the city of Amsterdam by setting up all kinds of important and large- scale projects. During WWII, the bust of the Sarphati monument, had to be removed by order of the German occupiers.
In the last year of the war the park was used as a rubbish dump.
The park regained its old splendour after two redecorations in 1975 and 1994.
