  We liked the Japanese traditional accommodations. The staff was very helpful with directions and even called our taxi driver when my son left his watch in the room when we had already checked out. The tatami sleepers for 5 was fun for our family although slightly uncomfortable at first. Although for smaller kids it might be too much of a walk. - Sleep well, and the equipment is fine at this hotel. They will write your name in front of the hotel, that makes me feel good. I think he waited for our coming after I confirmed arrival time because while we were walking to find Ryokan and almost getting lost, he called us from in front of Ryokan. I was so impressed. I got a big clean room with garden view and not close to the street so it was quite and peaceful. This room is what I think when stay in ryokan. Love it.

  Staff were exceptionally nice and helpful; they were able to give us directions when we called, hopelessly lost. They greeted us warmly when we arrived with hot cups of tea and helped us to find a local restaurant. The next day, they offered to keep our luggage while we went sightseeing. The traditional breakfast in the morning was also very good and well worth the value. - The location is excellent, just 5+ mins walk from the main Kyoto station. Price is reasonable for the service and facilities. Rooms are clean and fully equipped. Staff served tea to us every day when we came back to the ryokan. They have a free cultural night event every night run by volunteer staff. They are so friendly and it was really nice learning about their lives in Kyoto, as well as pick up some origami/calligraphy writing. Highly recommended!

One of the younger staff could speak both English and Chinese, so it made communication much easier.
