  When embarking on our first trip to Europe this summer, we decided to use B&B's as opposed to hotel chains during our travels, hoping to get a more personal and private experience. Upon arrival we were welcomed into the "home base" of the establishment and shown to our quarters across the street in another building. On our floor was a guests' common area complete with kitchen facilities, balconi - Location was excellent (once we found it!) very close to coliseum and some nice local restaurants. Room was fairly small but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was continental-style but ample and very good. Staff were helpful but only spoke Italian but we were able to communicate through miming and some broken Italian/English.

  Excellent location, very nice owner, nice and tidy room with a terrace - perfect for breakfast. Breakfasts with fresh croissant, cornflakes, milk, tosts, jam and honey every morning, access to the fully-equipped kitchen all day long. Slight problems with warm water first night - but next day morning fixed by owner.   Small boutique hotel with Italian Renaissance decor. Updated bathrooms, though small by American standards, had many unique features not usually seen in hotels in the usa. The owner, Roberto, is professional and takes great pride in the attention to the details of the hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Very near top attractions and local cafés. We booked two single rooms and sometimes in the past we have been allocated tiny, substandard rooms. The rooms at the Celio were charming, clean and the location between the Colosseo and Laterano was fabulous. This was the first time we have ventured out of the Trevi/Tritone area. (We go to Rome each year over past 15 years and this experience was one of our most enjoyable. Grazie Roberto!!

The hotel is close to the Termini station, so it was easy to get to when coming from the airport. I was also pleasantly surprised that we got to stay in a suite. Everyone was very nice and everyone spoke English. They also had a great breakfast spread. This was the nicest of the three hotels I stayed in while visiting Rome.
