This was my third stay at the Alter Keller since they opened their new
rooms in May of this year. I love this place! The rooms are spic and
span spotless, bed is extremely comfortable, nice roomy shower. Best of
all, you are less than a minute walk from the market square and yet in a
very quiet little area which is like an oasis of calm and peace away
from the hustle and bustle of the square. The food here is so good, why

The location is superb: in a quiet cul-de-sac, but a hundred yards from the main square. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was tasty and good value for money, and there was NO music! Yay! (Don't be diverted by the name: this is a hotel, and you can eat or not eat in the restaurant.) The breakfast (included in our price) was plentiful and varied. The building itself is old and interesting, with lots of old artefacts and pictures all around. All in all, we we.
Home away from home in the heart of Germany's most romantic small
town. I enjoyed three lovely days and nights here and have already
booked return stays in July, September and October. I had a single room
and it was more than enough space with a nice view over rooftops and to
the full moon. Wonderful food, and excellent breakfast with fast and
large cup of coffee (seriously, a big cup brought to me within ten
seconds if asking) and super hosts, you just cannot touch this for
anything close to t.
The town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber was absolutely wonderful (and
I've visited plenty of places in Germany) with so much to see and
do. That means this hotel is already brilliant because of its location,
right in the centre.
The hotel was fine generally although maybe not as good as its 9.4 rating (when I booked) suggested, but I think it's the location that is making this such a popular hotel.
There was secure bike storage.
It is very close to the center of Rothenburg. The room is very clean, comfortable and not expensive. You can also have meals downstairs. Its restaurant is decorated in typical Bavaria style and also one of the recomended ones in Rogthenburg. The breakfast is abundant and excellent. You may also see a smile face on the egg shell when you pick up one boiled egg, which could arouse your happy mood immediately. Strongly recomend!.
One of the most beautiful places I've stayed. The rooms were immaculate and the food outstanding. Breakfast was over the top and had everything imaginable. The owners and staff were so very helpful. I will definitely go back next time I visit this area.

Room seemed very recently renovated, the bathroom was very nice, with clean and comfortable bed.
We had an amazing time at Alter Keller. The facility was extremely clean. The hosts were very friendly. We loved the food, the beer and everything about this place. Next time we come to Rothenburg we would definitely be staying at Alter Keller.
It might be the best restaurant in the town for traditional Franconian food. The price of dinner was also very reasonable. I had the feeling that this is where the locals go to eat. Our hotel room was charming and clean.

1. We stayed in early October, in moderately poor weather. The large double room had wooden floors and no carpets. If nothing changed, it could probably be pretty cold in winter time -- though it could also be that the staff have the matter in hand and would provide extra heating somehow. But worth checking?
2. Parking in the town is almost impossible, so you will buy a temporary permit. But you will still have to walk after unpacking, so be sure to have an umbrella!.

Our room was rather small compared to all the others we have stayed in
during our Romantische Straße cycle tour but I guess this is
understandable in such an old building. We banged our heads a couple of
times on the door lintels!.

Parking inside the walls is difficult until after 4 p.m. when day trippers must leave and hotel gives a parking sticker good until the next day. Then it is ok.
