Location, location, location. We did not have a car and the hotel being right in the middle of the old town and within walking distance to other parts of the old town was very convenient. The hotel is basic and clean but on the budget side which is what we wanted. The kind lady at the reception desk recommended a taxi service to the airport and booked the taxi for me as I did not know any German. Staff very friendly and helpful and spoke English.
all reviews » Before I even arrived, I had prompt and helpful responses to emails. This service continued during my stay. I needed help with various details and got accurate and helpful advice. I also was able to leave my luggage at the front desk for a few hours before my late afternoon train departure. I had the best view of the bridge and river! Things quieted down at night for a great night's sleep. Everything about this place! Fab location- you couldn't get much better for the aldstadt, old bridge and schloss. The rooms are really cosy and nicely furnished. Everything was clean, shower was great, staff were really helpful. We didn't have breakfast so I can't comment on food. Would definitely come back here and recommend this to others visiting Heidelberg. The inkeeper was so kind she helped me carry my luggage down the stairs. Location was excellent, being next to the famous bridge and close to great restaurants and the path to the castle. As recommneded, we parked our car at p12 for 8 euro with a hotel stamp, which was 5 minutes on foot from the hotel. All the staffs i met speaks very good english. They were polite and friendly. The location is perfect (just beside the old bridge) and the view was beautiful! The hotel itself was small but tastefully designed. The breakfast was very nice. In fact there is nothing i could criticize about this hotel. A fabulous find right in the heart of the pedestrian zone. We loved the family atmosphere, the Alte Bruecke right outside the door and the wonderfully big room with four large windows. This was perfect for our budget and our love of downtown Heidelberg. It is perfectly located, literally crawling distance from 3 of our favorite places to drink/eat and yelling distance from the rest of what matters in Heidelberg. The bathroom didn't gross us out and the water in the shower was both ample and hot. A very clean, comfortable & friendly hotel, with excellent breakfast. You can reach the hotel from the main train station by bus no34. The stop is "Alte Brucke Nord". The location was amazing. Our window opened up to a view of the Old Bridge. The check in service was easy and fast. They also gave us a key for the outside door if we came in after closing hours. The location of this hotel is what it has to offer. It is at the base of the famous bridge and just a few blocks from the castle and right downtown. Lift would be really helpful, though the lack of it does not undermine our love for the classic hotel. The stairs were a bit difficult to manage with our bags. Make sure to bring your own shampoo; had we forgotten we would have been screwed. On arrival, there was no-one there, but a message was pinned to the door, asking me to collect my key from the neighbouring hotel. This was a bit disconcerting, but actually worked out OK. The steps were tricky with my luggage, but the receptionist helped me with my bags when I left. no free internet. There was not anything that I did not like about the hotel. I did not experience the breakfast because we ventured out for breakfast down the main street. breakfast was not included. Room was a bit dated and not the most comfortable bed. Bed. It was ok, but an extra pillow would have been appreciated & the bed itself could be more solid so one doesn't have to climb out of it. Also, no tea making facilities. My rooom was at the front side, and I wasn't able to close the upper window, so it was quite nousy. the bathroom is too small. Bedroom rather small but very quiet. The bed was not level (although they tried) because the floor is not level in this old building. The streetlights outside made the room very bright all night, which was difficult with our 2-year-old son, who kept waking up thinking it was morning. Wireless internet should have been free... The room doesn't have air-conditioner and only has a fan. It was very hot in the room and not quite comfortable at night. Plus it is very noisy outside late at night and early in the morning because of its location. Accessibility to offload luggage a bit difficult especially in evening. No lift and we asked for a quite room on top floor, which we got!! Although the room was clean, there were no extra comforts like hair dryer and hospitality tray. Wifi did not work in bedroom and the bathroom was very small. This was a good location hotel for a one night stay. there is no lift. no AC so, if you in mid summer little bit tough to stay. of course, they are providing table fan. I liked everything. A bit too noisy outside. 1. The room rate is expensive without having any breakfast. 2. No lift. (we were lucky, we stayed at 2 floor...) 3. We could smell the smoking from the outside in the room. Room was very basic and sparse. shower in bath area very small and shower head leaked more than worked. Otherwise clean. Thin walls, which meant we heard every movement from 6am onwards. Some staff were unhelpful. We got a check-out call five minutes before check-out - we knew the time and were leaving, didn't need the call. Not suitable when travelling with young children. No elevator inside, when you enter the hotel you first have to walk up the stairs. the room was not what we expected but for one night it was ok... This hotel was not at all what I was expecting based on prior reviews and photos. The room we were given was dirty, dingy, smelly and gross. My experience was old carpet, old bedding, stained walls, moldy bathroom, bugs, and a lovely view of the staff break room. The Hotel don't have a lift, the bed is awful and there's no audio isolation, you can hear all people walking at night. Parking area is a little far. Owner and staff very unfriendly and it seemed that the co-located restaurant is the main business. The access is very narrow with blocking by restaurant tables and up narrow steep stairs. no wireless, we have to pay it.
