This family-run hotel is a beautiful half-timbered building directly on the historic market square in Bacharach. The Altkölnischer Hof offers rental bikes for exploring the UNESCO Middle Rhine Valley.
The non-smoking rooms of the Altkölnischer Hof Bacharach feature a country-style design and traditional wooden furniture. All include a satellite flat-screen TV and a private bathroom, and Wi-Fi can also be booked.
A breakfast buffet is served each morning in the elegant restaurant. Regional Rhineland fish, game and roast specialities can be enjoyed here or on the terrace.
Nearby hiking trails include the Rheinsteig and the Rhein-Burgen-Weg (Rhine castles trail). The world-famous Lorelei Rock is just 11 km away.
On-site parking is free for guests, and Bacharach Train Station is just 400 metres from the Altkölnischer Hof. Hahn Airport, Koblenz and Wiesbaden can all be reached within a 45-minute drive.
The appearance is of a charming, old world, typically German early building with exposed wood. Inside the bar/reception and views into the dining area are of apparent ancient dark wood. Very atmospheric and just what you want. Then to the room. Not a climb up some rickety old stair case, but a lift/elevator. OK, so it only takes two people with their luggage, but it's fast and efficient.
The room itself is definitely late 20th century, with a 21st century bathroom. Perfect.
We got beers from th. all reviews
Perfect location, in centre of Bacharach em Rhein. We really liked the
hotel. The room is very big, it actually has another room as a bedroom
and some like a living space (with bed too) and tv. Everything is very
clean and comfortable. Bathroom is big and clean, there are all
facilities needed. Elevator (needed for our room at 3rd floor) is good
and in working order. Breakfast is very good, large choise of food and
members of stuff are very kind and gentle. Hotel has its own parking,
but on a w.
Lovely hotel right in the centre of Bacharach. Room (with balcony) comfortable and clean. So nice to be able to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by. The hotel really goes out of its way to pay attention to detail, and this shows. Very good breakfast in that amazing dining room. Perfect location - a few minutes down to the Rhine and the boats; a few minutes the other way for the vineyards and stunning views. Staff were courteous and helpful, and we were very glad that we chose to stay .
The breakfast buffet was excellent. We paid a little extra for the 'bridal room' which was large and comfortable. A large balcony with a table and comfortable chairs overlooking the main street. A large shower in the bathroom with plenty of hot water. On arrival we were welcomed in a friendly manner and given clear information. Good car parking in the hotel's own car park just along the street. We enjoyed our stay and would stop here again.
I read some reviews that that place was dark and in need of some up-
grading. I find those reviews coming from people who are ignorant of
charm, rustic, beautiful wood work, paintings. The place is remarkably
beautiful. It was like staying in a museum. We absolutely loved this
place, the breakfast was the nicest we had on all of our hotels we
stayed at in Germany. We will recommend this place to all our friends
and family.
In our four day trip in Germany this was our absolute favorite spot.
Bacharach is a becautiful quant spot with a great view of the Rhine. You
are walking distance of the entire town and it is an amazing place. I
couldn't stop taking pictures. Food here was also wonderful. Hotel
was in a great location, staff was friendly, and spoke English. We will
definately stay here again.
We loved the location along the Rhine and in Bacharach - very central in Bacharach and for seeing many beautiful sites and castles nearby. The rooms were very clean and well put together - we had our 1 year old with us and could easily fit her crib in our room and not feel scrunched. Breakfast was fantastic and all the staff very friendly and extremely helpful.
we were pleasantly surprised by both the hotel and the town. The hotel itself is situated within the inner walls of the township and is a beautiful structure in it's own right. The room we stayed in was well appointed and comfortable and the breakfast was tasty. The staff and owners of this hotel are warm and welcoming .
In the center of town, beautiful building with nice restaurant, very good breakfast. Parking available a block away. Our room had a huge balcony overlooking the square. Everyone spoke English. We were treated very nicely. The town is quite small. The KD cruise ship dock is a two minute walk away for Rhine boat rides.
Very friendly staff, and a decent room. A little housekeeping problem with the room on arrival was sorted immediately and without fuss, and left a good impression. The staff went out of their way to provide us with locked motorbike parking, which was thoughtful. The food was good too. Would definitely stay here again.
Great hotel in a stunning location, right in the center. Very close to Rhine bike path which is wonderful. Breakfast excellent. Good dinner menus, you can eat on terrace outside, people watch. Very cosy and romantic. Very clean. The setting is gorgeous. Large car park nearby.
We arrived wet through after a day cycling in the rain, we had booked a room with a shower but with the rain really needed a bath the staff were excellent in arranging room with a bath quickly with no fuss. We ate in the restaurant and the service, food and local wine was very good.
Wonderful, quaint hotel right in the middle of town. Our triple room was huge with a small balcony overlooking the main street. Bathroom was clean and well equipped with a large shower. Nice towels and sheets. Room even had a fridge and a fan. Our favorite hotel of our trip!.
Great location in the center of town.wehad a very nice room with lovely windows opening onto the street. Outside cafe was a plus where you could order a drink and watch the people and enjoy the village ambiance. Awesome place. Owner was very gracious.greatbreakfast.
We had a triple room which was very spacious, breakfast was outstanding.
Location was close to train station and easy to find. We had a wonderful
day renting bicyles in town, riding down the Rhine and taking a boat
back to Bacharach. Would highly recommend this hotel.
It doesn't get any better than this. We loved everything about this place. Clean, friendly and the nicest shower we have had on our European vacation yet. I thought the cost of our room was a little steep but all in all we had a great experience.
We loved Bacharach and this hotel is in an attractive old building that is part of the character of the town itself. Easy free parking, free wifi, breakfast included in the rate. All things that you expect but don't always get.
Lovely hotel steeped in history and right in the middle of the town. Comfortable rooms, fantastic breakfast, and good evening meal. Very comfortable stay with garaging for motorcycle much appreciated.
Best hotel of our six weeks of travel. Family-run hotel. Friendly, helpful. Well furnished and attractive room. Bathroom was immaculate and modern.
Excellent cuisine. This is a CLASSY hotel.
Breakfasts were very good with irrisistably yummy ,freshly baked breads and delicious cheese spreads.Best on our 3 weeks holidays in germany.
The building is gorgeously beautiful.
We were late arriving and were welcomed quickly and taken to our room...charming, clean, comfortable. Up-dated bath.
Breakfast was delicious and there was American coffee!!.
The Hotel was lovely and old, but updated in the inside. Walking distance to town and short drives to see other towns and castles. This was our base for four days.
Outstanding appearance; exquisite ambience; location ideal; easy access to Rhine Cruise and train station; excellent food; community is fairy-tale exquisite.
Very nice location, very clean, very comfortable. We liked the impressive old-fashioned dining room. Location is right in the center of the tiny town.
Welcoming staff, stored our luggage until room was ready, easy access to free parking, close to Rhine river cruise, good place for dinner.
The hotel was in a good location. Barbara was welcoming, spoke English
and made some wonderful suggestions for places to see and eat.
-perfect location in the centre of town
-steps from the Rhine
- free parking was great
- breakfast was awesome
- comfortable room.
Fine old medieval structure; fair proximity to rail and excellent proximity to riverboat connections. A nice restaurant onsite.
Historic middle class hotel of good standards placed in the center of a beautiful historic town on the Rhine riverside.
We stayed in corner turret in an old castle like hotel. I very charming town with lots of local charm.
Ed and Barbara.
Great location, excellent value for your money. Breakfast was outstanding and I recommend you eat dinner there also.
The fantstic location, the historic value outside and modern facilities in the rooms. Would like to stay there again.
Bacharach is a wonderful destination, and the hotel is totally charming. Our room was spacious and had a balcony.
Small town atmosphere. Relaxing location and hotel. Very nice to have a balcony. Good restaurant experience.
Nice hotel right in the center of Bacharah. Large, clean room. Private parking. Good breakfast. Helpful staff.
Bacharach is the best town on the Rhine by far. The hotel is perfectly situated, and of a high standard.
Really liked the balcony. Great place to rest with a view after a day of touring. Bed was comfortable.
It is situated in a fantastic little village on the Rhine. The people were very helpful and welcoming.
Excellent breakfast. Good comfortable room- very clean.
Close to center of town,attractions,shopping.
Beautiful structure with wonderful woodwork. Excellent breakfast served in the hotel dining room.
The people were just great and the food was extra fine with the amenities exceptional in every way.
The restaurant, helpful staff, comfortable room, location for Rhine and Mosel touring, clean.
Great atmosphere, very nice staff, staff speaks English, clean room, convenient location.
Very helpful staff.A lovely old building with lots of history. Good food and local wine.
Rooms are very nice; the restaurant has very good dinners ans well as breakfast.
The hotel was lovely and right in town, good base for exploring the Reine area.
Picturesque little hotel in a picturesque little town.
Quintesenntial Germany.
I loved everything! Perfect location, great staff, very beautiful hotel.
Staff very helpful, room design perfect and morning breakfast 5 star.
Friendly staff, exceptional breakfast and right in the centre of town.
We stayed only one night!.
Nothing - everything was fine. Just to say that parking is about 50
meters away-maybe a little more.
In common with just about every other eating place in Bacharach, catering for vegetarians is very limited. The Altkolnischer Hor would be very popular if it could provide something more on its menu for vegetarians.
Only one incident which will be one of the memories of the holiday. At dinner a fly managed to make its way into my husband's wine. The waitress on being told of this said, 'I will bring you a spoon'. This she did and my husband extracted it from his glass. This caused much amusement amongst the other diners.
Beds were generally hard in Germany.
Nothing the hotel is well worth a visit.
Nothing, we loved it!.
nothing.
Room was a little pricey for the size.
That we hadn't booked to stay longer!.
The room is rather small with poor sound insulation.
Our room was very small. However, the other rooms in the hotel seemed fine. Our son had a very large room.
The River Cruise schedule was not correct and we had to take a school
bus back to the closest town to Bacharach. It was an adventure.
Some brief, but surmountable language concerns.
The stairs to the turret room.
Nothing.
The town is hard to find if you are driving and don't know the area.
none.
Nothing.
Rooms a bit dated and hotel could use some sprucing up but it fits well in the town.
nothing.
Our room was very small for two people. Ask for a larger room.
Nothing.
