Very central to the town and staff provided a birthday cake as a complete surprise as I'd mentioned my husband's birthday on booking---a very nice touch.The breakfast was excellent. Perfect room with very good value for money. Executive lounge and service personnel. perfect place to stay, good value for money. Shower head height and quality and air conditioning equipment was ofpoor quality.On a non-smoking floor, we smelt a lot of smoke... called the front desk and they took care of it right away. Also a problem w/hot water... but they fixed right away. Too expensive internet costs...Wi-fi it's 12€ x hour!!!. breakfast room too small. I made the mistake a having a can of coke in the middle of the night and assuming it would cost 3-4 euros (as per Hyatt in Cologne). I was not happy to find it cost 7 euros. It left a bad taste in my mouth and spoilt my views on the hotel. The infrastructure and the staff are not in line with a five starshotel: the staff is unable to cope with (even) simple situations and theinfrastrures (mainly bathrooms) are obsolete. The public areas are good, but the rooms are now showing their age for a 4 star. The carpet was very old and dirty, the couldnt get the tv to work. Not what I expeced from Hilton hotel. The hotel restaurant was closed during my entire stay ( I was not informed of this when booking), the breakfast was not served in the cafe as described but in a large room where there were not enought tables and no plates!!! The hotel took a deposit of 399 Euro's on arrival and it took 3 phone calls and 1 week to have the money returned to my bank!!!. cleanliness. Did not meet hilton standards. we had 2 rooms and in both cases the minibar could not be opened. Had to use room service just to get a cold drink. very inconvenient at night. Don't expect that at the Hilton. It is not a real 5 star, it was a good offer, but it should be a 4 star. equipment of the room was very poor (it really looks like the hotel from early 70's), the staff was unfriendly and crowd during breakfast was incredible...it was a last time in Hilton. Price of the minibar was not clearly listed ( and eur7.0 for 25cl of plain water is a bit too much). There was a crack in the ceiling of the room. We were woken up by a phone call at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday being offered the "special breakfast offer" when we specifically asked for breakfast arrangement when we checked in. The carpet in the room is old style. Slippers were totally absent.Personnel not friendly, sanitary old fashioned. I have stayed in many Hiltons, but this one was a bit of a disappointment. The room was not very clean, the staff did not replenish the supplies of coffee, tea, suger, etc. It took a few calls. Not at all value for money.
