We loved our time at the Grand Mercure. Staff are friendly and very down to earth. The facilities are great we spent more time in the pool then we did at the beach. The location is awesome you can smell the beach and plenty of restaurants to go to. I would rate this place very highly. The 2 bdrm apt was very well appointed & in a great location for the beach & restaurants, an easy walk. It was very clean/comfy & homey feeling. The 2 baths were nice to have and they were a good size, as we were with another couple.

The couple who run the apartments are very friendly and accomodating. They go out of their way to ensure that your stay is very comfortable. The apartments are positioned just opposite the beach and close to some very nice restaurants. The hotel is located just across the street from the beach. The pool is heated and big, they offer sauna and gym at no extra cost. The apartment was big and very clean. The beds were comfortable and there is duct aircon. Location was great with a beach accross the road and very quite at night time. Lots of places to eat and drink. We came accross a very gorgeous cafe with organic coffee and fantastic food. The pool is outstanding. Staff really made us feel welcome room was large clean and very comfortable pool even though close to main rd very private definitely staying there again. Everything!. Everything. Hervey Bay itself is very laid back but a little run down with and would benefit from some decent shops and a facelift. No BBQ on site, there are some public across the street but no power or lights for a night BBQ . Dishwashing amenities must be provided at least one per stay day. There are not enough cutlery for two meals, so you have to wash the dishes after each meal, and there is not enough things to use the dish-washing machine. The gym was pretty small and some of the equipment looked old. couldn't fault it. that we could not stay longer. Not having 2 secure car parks. I found front reception staff a bit snippy. There was a lot of information to take in when checking in for the first time and when I asked for clarification as to where to park, the person got exhasperated and spoke slowly like I was dim witted. Not a nice feeling. Not as near to marina as I would have liked but this is just picky!!. Couldn't check in even after asking for an earlier check in time, and wasn't overly helpful as we had a long day ahead of us. Got to our room at 6.30pm after getting there 11am. Distance to cafe's n shopping. NofreeWiFi. Restaurant not open for breakfast.
