Great place. If you're looking for somewhere to party & have a laugh then this is the place. Stayed in a four bed room with an ensuite shower & toilet which were cleaned everyday. Staff were friendly & helpful along with the tour desk. The club though is brilliant!! Large & loud & does $10 meal/drink deal which was a life saver. Would stay here again whenever in Cairns.
all reviews » Stayed from 19.2.13 - 26.2.13 in room 417 and had an awesome stay. I went with 3 people from work in Brisbane as a get away. We hardly ended up leaving at all because everything was there. I'll be booking again soon. Very hard to fault! Thanks to all the Gilligan's team. all young people here.in the center of CAIRNS.free shuttle from the airport.near restaurant,near the train station,the beach,the shopping mall.the room is clean and the bed is softy. Great atmosphere in bar area, really well laid out and attractive. Free dinner was a bonus! Kitchen near our room was handy for cooking some of our own meals. Big rooms with showers and toilets comfy beds bunks that dont squeak free meals bar next door with big pool kitchen and living area on each floor. The location was amazing, close to everything by walking. You got a free meal every night if you bought a beverage from their bar. Close to the center of the town Many activities available with the opportunity to spend less booking through the gilligan's. The atmosphere amongst the guests in the hostel and the on site bar and food facilities. Good central location Many services offered (pub/restaurant, travel agency, disco...). rooms with balcony, aircon, bar/club right downstairs, just right for backpackers. really clean, great place to party, friendly staff, great location. Internet is pretty bad. Doesn't work in the room only in the kitchen area & downstairs in reception. Our private room felt a bit dated and had an unpleasant smell. For the same money you can stay in a hotel room nearby which is arguably nicer. Also we didn't have a control to regulate the airconditioner, it was on 24/7 and we were freezing!. it was quite loud. It was quite noisy from their bar but as long as you stayed on the other side of the hostel, it wasn't bothersome. Too many english guys!. The charges for wifi and the poor coverage of wifi throughout the hostel, couldn't pick up I room. Also there were not manysocketsto plug in for power in tv room. The disco inside it's a nice thing, but it could be annoying if you want to rest, especially when you need to get up early in the morning for the excursions. lack of power outlets air con didn't seem like it was working too well. The room always seemed to be wet & smelled a bit like mould. Cleaning staff are rude Sunday you get your room raided by staff to kick people out. Better value in other hostels around namely Global. Nothing :). can't turn off the AC. It has changes so much no more drinking on balconys the atmosphere is gone. Party hostel that was very noisy!. Staff at reception were slow and unfriendly had no customer skills we had to wait 45 minutes at reception to check in. staff bored and mechanical in approach drains vile made a shower almost impossible design ugly more club 18-30 than backpackers.
