  The staff were very courteous and helpful. The location was excellent - so close the MRT (underground railway) station which gave access to all of Singapore with ease. Only a 5 minute ride from the City Hall stop in the middle of the city and trains ran every few minutes. - Great location, nice clean well maintained room.   I booked a room at Carlton City to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. I planned it as a surprise and requested for an early check-in such that I could surprise him with the room and a cake. Knowing that such a request is highly subjected to availability, I had half expected that an early check in would not be possible. The room we had was clean and spacious with a nice view. Complimentary coffee is excellent. The staff are really friendly and ready to help whenever required. Excellent staff, very nice, friendly and helpful. The swimming pool is relatively big (ca. 20m distance for swimming, plus adjacent pool for relaxing, although only 1.20m deep). I received a very good price for this nice hotel, probably because the hotel is new and after only 3 months not yet fully booked.

Formerly a historic Chinese Opera house/opium den/brothel, it has been converted to retain as much of the original ambiance as possible. Located right in Chinatow - I really liked the location and the decoration in the hall and in the hotel. The staff was very friendly and available. They didnt have an elevator but there were electric escalators, which seemed like a nice idea! Bottled water included in room. Even thought they did not offer breakfast there were some great local breakfast places close by.
