For the middle of nowhere, the setting is gorgeous. Beautiful view from our east-facing room, with our own door to the outside. Lots of surface area in the bathroom - a big plus in my book. Yes, the dinner buffet is expensive (like most food in Iceland), but if you're a meat-eater and you're hungry, you won't be disappointed. The roast lamb was delicious. So was the Icelandic meat soup and the marinated fish. Generous breakfast buffet included in room price.

This hotel didn't look like much from the outside but was beautiful and comfortable on the inside. The staff were nice and helpful. The restaurant available to customers served very delicious food. Very friendly staff. The food at the restaurant was great and the proximity of Geirland to Kirkjubaejarklaustur was very convenient. The nearby waterfall and the "church floor" formation was nice as well. Great location for day trips to Skaftafell or Hofn.

This is a fabulous guesthouse. The owner could not do enough for us including booking restaurants and giving advice about activities in the area. The guesthouse was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. We would highly recommend the Fagrahlid Guesthouse. Its proximity to the Eyjafjallajokull volcano and to the south coast sights is great.

First of all we had booked a basic double bedroom but we soon found out that the owners had given us one of the suites, as it was available. Moreover, the owners were lovely and helpful people! My friend and I were upgraded as a very generous courtesy to a four-bedroom apartment with a private deck larger than my own home. It felt like a palace after the small rooms we'd been staying in for the previous week. The view was (is) beautiful, the apartment luxurious, and the staff professional and kind. On our final morning, we settled the account after breakfast and then stayed for as long as possible, reading and enjoying the quiet.
