Beautiful view from our east-facing room, with our own door to the outside. Lots of surface area in the bathroom - a big plus in my book. Yes, the dinner buffet is expensive (like most food in Iceland), but if you're a meat-eater and you're hungry, you won't be disappointed. The roast lamb was delicious. So was the Icelandic meat soup and the marinated fish. Generous breakfast buffet included in room price.

  The staff were extremely helpful and found us at breakfast to see if they could help us decide our trips. All very friendly and had plenty of time to help their customers. Dinner was amazing.   We enjoyed a lot: the hospitality of all the staff, the big house, the cottage, the horses!! We were given a really beautiful cottage even if we've booked a double room. We enjoyed the also the countryside, the riding was spectacular! Good the location for a lot of activities and attraction around Hella.   We went to this Hotel in Jun 2013 as a young couple and really liked the Hotel. The location is stunning, remote but right next to Golden Circle attractions and close enough to Reykjavik. The landscape is truly unique, one site of the Hotel faces a thermal energy plant, which bugged me at first, but after a while I found it fascinating to observe ... co mówią ludzie » the steam being blown by the wind. The other site of the Hotel faces the lake in remote distance, so you get panoramic 'postcard views'. The Hotel has - The Ion is uniquely located next to a geothermal plant that billows steam and discharges hot water into an adjacent lagoon 24/7. Ordinarily, this would not be an attractive neighbor for a luxury hotel. However, the clean, modernist industrial design of the hotel is complemented by the adjacent plant.   We stayed at the Hotel Vestmannaeyjar for 3 days and it was absolutely amazing! First of all we had booked a basic double bedroom but we soon found out that the owners had given us one of the suites, as it was available. Moreover, the owners were lovely and helpful people! From day-1 both they gave us excellent hints about what to see, where to go... co mówią ludzie » , what was opened in this season... They were also very kind to help us book a car. This hotel was WONDERFUL and really made our stay on the island ev - This is our second stay at Hotel Vestmannaeyjar in two years and we hope to go back again. The owner, Magnus, is such a nice person. He keeps us coming back along with the fact that we love Heimaey.

The situation was stunning near Geysir, we walked there from our cottage. The day we arrived the weather was not that good, but the next day when we woke up the sun was shining in a blue sky. Then we could fully enjoy the views all around. The cottage is really comfortable.
