We were looking for a convenient hotel to stay the night before a flight from Bristol airport. There was no noise to be heard from the airport, which is surprising as it is only a mile away. Fantastic find. Even though they had only been up and running for one month, everything was spot on. We stayed in the family room - spotless, beautifully decorated, lovely underfloor heating, and extremely well equipped. Great views, and would be perfect for Bristol airport. The kitchen /sitting room was an added bonus, owners extremely friendly, and even tea/coffee/breakfast food was provided - not sure why anyone would want to stay in a hotel after this.

We felt really pampered. Our room was beautiful but it was all the extra touches that came with it that made us feel we were enjoying a luxury break. We didn't have to ask for anything because everything we wanted was already provided. Breakfast was worth getting up for and Jason was the perfect host.

Everything, staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room was very clean and well decorated. Food in the lodge was well priced and very enjoyable. Would recommend and would definitely stay again, hope to next year - Large, modern room and bathroom with wide screen HD TV and Free-view. In a quiet location but god access to a major route.

The room was superb, light and airy with nice furnishings. Plenty of tea and coffee and a fridge in the hall if we needed fresh milk etc. The staff were there if needed and very helpful and friendly. We only had breakfast in the hotel but this was substancial with plenty of choice, finishing off with coffee in the garden. All in all a superb week-e

The receptionist was very helpful and welcoming - the tea and cake on arrival was a nice touch, as we were both starving! The room (which was actually an impressively large suite including a kitchenette - much more than we thought we had booked) was very clean and furnished to a very high standard. Everything felt very new and clean. Good central location with plenty of parking space. Had a great stay and was impressed by everything.

The room was clean and well equipped.The owners were very friendly, helpful and went out of there way to help to make my stay the best possible. The airport transfer was really good. Justsay when you want to go and you are taken, then on my return i phoned to say i had arrived and 3-4 minutes later they were there to collect me. Fantastic place and people.

Excellent new facilities.Met by beautiful Latvian girl who spoke excellent English and was extremely helpful.Half an hour later picked up by very friendly Latvian driver in their mini bus to take us to The Fox and Goose for a meal ,no charge for the ride and 20% off the food bill when I presented their card. The staff were really excellent and flexible - allowing me to check in much earlier than normal, after I had arrived from Dublin to Bristol airport. They had the room cleaned early, as I waited, and gave me some coffee and breakfast, TV, internet access, etc. The owner also dropped by to say hello. The staff also allowed me to use their printer and were excellent in providing transport to and from the train station in Bristol (about a 30 minute drive) and were much cheaper than a regular taxi.

My husband and I just had a wonderful couple of nights at Oldfields.
What made it so special was how friendly the staff are - making us tea/biscuits on arrival and when we got back from a long day out the following afternoon, and giving us helpful info on Bath (where to go, where to eat out etc.).

The house has been newly renovated. We were the first people to stay in
our room! Johan was very helpful, and explained things very well. The
house is a bit of a maze and you needed a tour guide to find your room
;-) Private parking at the back of the house. There looked to be great
views over the mendips, but we couldn't really get the full benefit
due to pouring rain!

This was our third stay at The Griffin - and I am sure we will stay there again:
staff are always very cheerful, helpful and welcoming;
location is great for exploring Bath - near station as we travel by train and central for shops, theatre, etc.
Breakfast is fine, as are the bar snacks and range of beers and wines. -
