The Room was great. Very Clean. Hotel front desk woman with an accent wasn't warm, but helpful. The guy who worked the front desk on Saturday night was awesome. all reviews » The location was very central. The restaurant dinner we had was fabulous, very high quality menu. The foyer was well designed but not that welcoming for comfort.We liked the state of the art room key system. Free cocktails were great and the knowledgeable wine waiter and great waiter Ryan. General ambience,decor and atmosphere was good especially cocktail bar and live music. Considering it was a city hotel with obviously limited space we really enjoyed our stay there. Staff was very friendly and skilled. We arrived early in the morning and after checking availability they allowed us to check in. We have a baby and they also upgraded our room with a bigger one. Montgomery metro station is 5' from the hotel. Bus station is in front of. It's also next from China Town main entrance and Union sq. Location was perfect, we personally prefer boutique hotels to the larger names for the intimate service, this we expirienced and the hotel had original unique style. Make sure you visit the bar on the second floor, the head bar tender is a genious when it comes to making one of kind cocktails and really knows his products. Excellent place. Not a big deal though, running in San Fran. Streets is not a bad alternative. Slow and dated elevator. I think I took the stairs more often than I took the elevator. Service at the restaurant could use improvement (i.e. efficiency, speed). Parking the car is very expensive, 34$ a day. Garbage truck noise- luckily not until after 8am. Getting to the hotel is not easy. I did not use the hotel recommended parking as this was significantly more expensive than using the Stockton Sutter garage opposite the hotel. The elevator is seriously slow. Could use an exercise room with a few treadmills. Stairwell was a little worn and showed signs of aging. Sunday breakfast closed early. Although the breakfast is good, I would like to see more offered such as waffles, sausage, omelletes, etc. Difficult to park and unload luggage from car at Hotel entrance. Parking expensive, we paid $34 per day. The elevator is on the small side, but that just added to the charm of the hotel. Wifi speed can be faster, breakfast can be more diversed. We had a room on the 8th floor at the end of the corridor. Wifi was poor to undetectable sometimes. Wifi in Lobby was perfect. Bathroom doesn't have much storage, rather none :). Elevator, only one, is slow and sometimes it takes a while before it gets to your floor. The elevator is old and slow, but we dealt with it even though I am very claustrophobic. There isn't much of a view (unless you count the building 20 feet away). The windows didn't do much to dampen night time alley noise (garbage trucks, yelling, etc.). Elevator was not working in our last day at the hotel, and we had to carry our suitcases downstairs. There is a bar downstairs, which makes impossible for you to sleep before they close, at 2am. They charged my travel card twice, and took almost one week to resolve it, which was a problem, once I was using a pre-paid card. I really like everything. Elevator is sometimes very busy. Would like coffee in the room. The elevator didn't always work. The noise! I cannot even describe it. There was constant, loud door slamming sounds, pounding and noises from the alley. All, night, long... This aspect prevents me from recommending an otherwise wonderful hotel. Something needs to be done as I've seen many similar complaints on Yelp. The only lift that was very slow especially when i was on the 8 th floor. Elevator is in poor condition. There is no a/c in the rooms Hair dryer did not work No robes Bad tv channels The room had a slight funky smell from painting and renovations. The elevator was out our entire stay. Huge inconvenience, since we were on the fourth floor. Water was luke warm, and little pressure. Single pane windows means being wakened by revelers screaming nonsense on their way home at 2:15 am Being awakened yet again at 6:30 by the garbage trucks and recycling collection (even on a Sunday morning) All reviews said lift was very slow, which it is (I liked the elevator itself, which was old but interesting). Rooms are European small. When you arrive at the hotel they hold 150 $ more than the cost of the room, just in case... It never happened in any other hotel... It is no a good welcome. Elevator super slow. Very long waiting times. Breakfast OK quality, but running out of bread every single day. Cleanliness review was only based on carpet in our room that should be cleaned . I missed not having a robe available. Other than that, there is nothing not to like at this hotel. Room was on the small side and could use a bit more counter space. Pedestal sinks are inefficient but look nice. Used the lounger as a luggage rack. No Kleenex in bathroom. nothing. No bathtub. Only one place to sit except the bed. The elevator is old and slow. We usually took the stairs .... No taxi rank or even anywhere for taxi drop off outside the hotel. Shower temperature could have been hotter... No A/C & the fan speeds aren't high. And only one of 3 windows actually opened to circulate air. Beware if you stay on the 3rd floor with an odd number. You will hear the garbage trucks at 5am & the kitchen staff. It wasn't too bad but if you don't expect it, it could be bothersome. We couldn't stay longer, parking was a bit tricky.
