We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Saddle Inn. We were in York for our friends wedding which was being held in the Pavillion hotel next door. The room was lovely and warm, Simple, comfortable and clean and the en-suite was lovely and clean too with a nice warm shower. We were so comfortable we slept in a little bit on the Saturday morning but we weren't being rushed out of our room the staff were all very friendly and pleased we enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend for a value for mo.

The rooms were cleaned, hoovered and beds made every morning. The ensuite was spotless and well equipped with shower gel, shampoo and spare loo rolls. I would recommend this place to anyone. There is a seperate door for coming and going which you are given a key to, so privacy is not a problem and you can come and go as you please. I will be booking again. Staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was very clean and comfortable and the location was good for getting into York. The price was excellent in comparison to staying in a hotel in the centre and it was still half the price even with the taxi fair. Would definitely stay here again. Also had wi-fi and plenty of tea and coffee!. Very basic, but what you would expect for the money. Staff were very friendly, I was made to feel welcome. Room and bathroom were very clean and perfectly comfortable with tea/coffee, bottles of water, lots of towels. Convenient for the city, and a very short taxi ride to the university. It's a Pub about 1 mile from the city walls. A gentle stroll along the river takes you right to the city centre. It's clean warm and friendly and for the money, (we paid £70 for 2 nights), was excellent value for money. The people. May and Sharon were wonderful! The price was excellent. Having a pub below was great for a cold beer at the end of the day! Our rooms were refreshed every day and we were treated very well. Good job girls!. Very friendly staff made us feel very welcome. What great value for money, it was 1.5 miles away from York, the rooms were extremely clean, bathroom was clean, no complaints at all. The pub looked cosy and comfortable however did'nt go in it. Location is good. Only a short journey from the city centre (or a leisurely stroll if the weathers nice). The staff were great and the pub has a nice atmosphere. Easy to get into the city by bus or taxi the saddle Inn is very well situated. Considering it's a pub it was nice and quiet. Would deffinately stay there again. My 1 and only criticism is there was no breakfast but as the landlady explained the night we got there, they have only very recently taken over the running of the pub so I expect once they have found their feet a little bit breakfast will probably be offered!. Liked everything so no complaints. No breakfast or food in the pub. Hallway was a wee bit noisy, but it's a set of rooms over a pub, so that's part of the deal! This is by no means a deal breaker! We enjoyed our stay!. Did'nt like the shared bathroom (personal preference), was advertised as en-suite, but was really clean so didnt mind and would'nt put me off going again. Shame the new owners could not offer food when we stayed but we understand it will be available soon. There is a good cafe just down the road. As it is above the pub some noise audible in room, especially quiz night man with mic was loud. so wouldnt be great if you want an early night but I didnt so wasnt a problem. Walls also thin as could hear people in other rooms. But no one was excessively bad so again it didnt spoil our trip. There wasnt anything i disliked. The only negative i had was the en suite needed a revamp and the shower kept going cold, which i'm guessing was when other people also showered. No breakfast, would have been nice, but we got one easy in York anyway, not really a big problem!. the plugs were overloaded in the room,the flex was too short on the kettle,which was a hazard. Shower kept going cold every so often. No hair dryer in room. Nothing really bit basic but ok for price as described and expected. nothing comes to mind. Room was a bit dated but was adequate for what we needed. Plus the landlady had only had it a week when we were there and said it would all be updated soon . When booking through website they did not respond to requesting a travel cot. Had to email them directly. They replied saying had no cot so we brought our own. Only to find in the room that they did have a travel cot. My mate snores and he did it ALL night!. shared bathroom. No breakfast avaliable. Shower was of poor performance. no mirror in room. Parking. no hot food available. No option for Breakfast. Too far away it took us over half hour to walk too city center,had too get taxis. Not quite open environment compared to YHA.
