I loved the decor, the room was very comfortable and the facilities better than published - eg flat screen Tv, free wifi access,the bistro style food was fantastic - and very reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. Breakfast was amazing! Hotel just been refurbished so everything was brand new. Lovely toiletries!. The room was very comfortable and the staff very friendly which was nice after a a long 24 hours of traveling!.
all reviews » All good - a very good find and I would definitely seek out other Abode Hotels in the future..The staff were very flexible and accommodating, and the design of the hotel is pretty unique. The staff were very helpful the room was fabulous highly reccomended. close to train station and points of interest. Nicely appointed. excellent customer service,great food,great value. room, service and fine dining restaurant. the breakfast- the hotel room- the staff-. The bed was massive :). and it was just a really nice homely room.. And weonly stayed in the "comfortable" one. Would love to see what the betterones were like :). and amazing shower too. it was near everything that we need for our stay and the rooms were clean, comfy and were worth the money. the staff were very helpful if we had a question. Breakfast shouldprobably been included or something in the price.Wooden flors looked nice, but tou could hear other guests/staff walking about at night. The rooms were too warm, heating pipes running through the room that couldn't be turned off. Air conditioning was available but blew directly onto the beds.They seemed to be understaffed in the cafe bar where we had lunch on our arrival day and breakfast the following morning. The service was a little haphazard. Also the bar ran out of beer!! Luckily, there is a pub next door, so we didn't go without!. No beer! Only lager!. the lounge is OK but decorated in a bit spartan fashion. Noise and lack of sound proofing. heating in the room was very strong though, and it feels wasteful to have to turn on the aircon to battle against the radiator. When we first went to the hotel there was a very unpleasant smell in the entrance, which quite put us off, even staying for a coffee! However, this was not there on our return in the afternoon, and must have been the smell of cooking at breakfast time.Room was a bit small. The bed was two big for the room, one half of it could not see the outof voice sinc tv.Windows generally don't open. Ventilation didn't work properly in either room we had. Staff unable to use heater/ventilation remote control device. Wooden floors and thin walls meant you could hear people walking around in the next room and in the hall. Also housekeeping came around too early.Lacked atmosphere in the bar, we were the only ones at 11.00 pm. Disorganised, unauthorised deductions on my card. Booked to use the Micheal ?Caine Restaurant and wasnt aware that it was closed on Sunday!. They had run out of coffee in the room and therefore Sunday morning we couldn't have a coffee. Also the double glasing in the front rooms doesn't work as we heard everything that went on all night in picadilly.I did not like the finish of the workmanship in the rooms. I understand the hotel has just had a revamp but there were paint splashes on our chair, floor and headboard. The grouting in the bath/shower left a lot to be desired also. This was very disappointing as it was expensive to stay and not expected this at all. When we turned up the main lights in the room did not work. This took 2 prompts from myself before they got fixed.Due to the hotel having wooden flooring the sound echos around the building. Housekeeping were extremely noisey from 8.15 am onwards, doors banging, vacuuming etc., each morning. Housekeeping also came into our room twice hours before before check out time to try to clean the room. We were very disappointed as had planned to catch up on some sleep over the weekend. Other than above, my breakfast was late - and I was tying to catch a train. And the bar staff in the cafe didn't follow my instructions for a gin and tonic and poured in all the tonic, effectively drowning the gin. I had asked for the tonic to be "on the side". However, the waitress kindly brought me another drink,.Room was pretty sparce and did not feel particularly luxurious. Wifi was not working! Shower lacked any pressure - which was most disappointing. For the tariff, breakfast should really be included. Restaurant and room service stop at 10pm which is far too early!. Comfort of the bed was good but the decor and lay out of the room was not to our tastes. It did not feel welcoming at all. The windows were so high you could not see out of them and the room looked stark.Poor design of room. Had to kneel on hands and knees to use safe positioned at ground level. Had to place kettle on floor to plug into socket.
