Everything is just perfect from the moment you step through the door. The room we had was fabulous - they had taken note of what my husband had said on the booking form - that it was a birthday treat - and as a result we were upgraded, got a birthday card from the management and complimentary birthday patiserries. The bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in and the pillows were just heaven. The bathroom was excellent and the Penhalligon toiletries a real treat. If you are looking for.

The hotel is immaculate from top to bottom. The location. Everything was more than superb! The doormen were outstanding the nicest most friendly helpful people you could ever meet. The waiter that brought breakfast to our room was absolutely delightful. My little 5 year old granddaughter couldn't stop saying how lovely he was. You couldn't possibly stay in a better hotel !!! The Gym and pool were hard to find, we get lost every time we get there. Not great value: a high price for a relatively small room with no view. Although the food was excellent, the service for breakfast in Roux at The Landau was patchy; too few staff on duty. I booked a smoking room through letsbookhotel.com but when I arrived at the hotel I was told that the type of room I had booked was non-smoking and I had to pay for an up grade to a type of room which had the smoking option. We were dissapointed to return back from the theatre at 10.50 and the staff were not very happy about serving us a drink. They did but put a lemon into my husbands gin and tonic and he wanted a cucumber. The closing time should therefore be 10.50 and not 11.00. Bed could be firmer, negatively affected my back. Good hotels need to excel with firm bedding. Turndown service was a bit spotty, one night they did it as though only one person was staying in the room. This is a very minor quibble, however. Turn down service is very good but it felt a bit like I had to have it and should be presented more as an available option. Felt a but intrusive. Our electronic keys didn't work first time and we had to return to reception from the top floor. This was quickly sorted and we had no problems after that. The bath. The shower door was fixed and made climbing in and out of the bath an interesting experience. some service in eating area at breakfast not so good chef for breakfast could not once get it right for my breakfast order. That we only stayed 4 nights. Would have loved longer. But will return. Did not like the chandelier at the entrance of hotel had 3 lights out .... Very noticeable and your doorman slightly unfriendly! He needs to smile and help guests who are not overly wealthy but comfortable. This also very noticeable. I think the staff that clean the rooms could be a little better,although very friendly I feel that the cleaning of the bathrooms and the bedroom could be stepped up a notch . I did not like the wash cloths at all ,they are seriously old and tired, not to mention off colour, I did however ask for new wash cloths, I was still given thin old washed out wash cloths. Amenities in the bathroom could be of better quality. Nothing!. The bar was very small and you would have to wait for a table even though we were residents. Difficult to eat in hotel bar or restaurant unless you had it booked in advance. The bar closed at 12am on Sunday and we couldn't have a drink. Not applicable. Poor performance on service at breakfast, though when this was mentioned at checkout, it was immediately compensated by cancellation of the breakfast charge. So no real complaint. The gym and swimming pool were on the other side of the hotel (from my room), and I have to walk around the hotel using different lifts. The room size was a little bit small as well. Lacked attention to detail eg no biscuits with tea/coffee making facilities Breakfast returned twice on 2 occasions due to being luke warm and not all contents for a full English breakfast in Roux restaurant. Aloofness of some staff Disparity in room rates - paid £160 more than another guest who was provided with a more superior room with breakfast. Room service took about 30 mins to get our bucket of ice. Nothing. Breakfast rather expensive for what it was. I cant think of anything. keep up the good work!. No obvious lounge area to take coffee, and restaurants fully booked, so we had to go out. Room not ready until 1630. Made to wait. That I was only there for one night :(. nothing specific as a dislike but something was missing. Steps to some rooms. Although the check in time was 3 pm, we had to wait until 4.45 before our room was ready. The lounge area could have been better arranged with a few extra pieces of furniture. Pool area very basic.
