Good service,friendly staff and high quality standard of room with pleasant views, excellent breakfast and opulant reception rooms,very centrally located for main attractions of Harrogate town. We could not have asked for more.Excellent value for money. Customer care was excellent. There were two big events on in the hotel during our stay, but the hotel was so well staffed we weren't kept waiting for anything. We would definitely stay again.
all reviews » The fact that although there was a dance taking place with a lot of young people this could not be heard in our room and therefore didn't intrude on our peace and quiet. I was very pleased with the quiet and comfort and price; location was nice, just a short walk to restaurants/pubs.Quiet and staff were very good, a nice distance from the town, breakfast was the best we have had from a hotel. Very nice accomodation - large room with appropriate lounge furniture overlooking front area of hotel. I was only there over night - but I liked the atmosphere as well as the peacefulness. beautiful hotel, a lovely break after the festive season. However, our room on the top floor was a little jaded. A crack in the sink, one double glazed window pane and two single ( and draughty) glazed window panes. However the room was very clean and very comfortable, so these comments are by way of observation rather than complaint. Hotel very old and worn inside; very creaky floors and doors. Overall, no complaints though.No - except breakfast was not hot enough. no, nothing.A lick of paint on the 3rd floor would not go amiss. On our booking form it said pets not allowed. During our stay there was a dog in the bar area just outside the dining room which we most certainly did not like!. Dining area too big and impersonal. Parking - but I assume this was only temporary. The view from our window was uninteresting. There were lots of pigeonsoutside and the droppings were everywhere. Tv - small old set.Although the breakfast was good, it seemed exceptionally busy and not enough staff to keep up with demand. There had been a wedding function there the night before. I just think that staffing hadn't been looked at properly. very dated interiors, ripped and chipped wallpaper and walls. Needs bringing upto date.having to ask for toiletries to be replenished daily. Only one minor comment and I would have preferred a room with a better view. The hotel needs some redecoration to the corridoors but the rest of the hotel is fine. Price of breakfast very expensive. Room a little old, but quite acceptable for the price. The choice on the evening meal menu was a little restricted.bed linen was rather tired - took a long time to achieve hot water in bathroom sink. We lived in Harrogate for 21years to 2002, and the Cairn was always regarded as slightly "Victorian" i.e. old-fashioned, but we feel this is part of its appeal. The only mild criticism is that the decor of some of the upstairs landings corridors could benefit from a refresher.We paid for an upgrade room - well worth the small aditional cost. However Hotel should have explained that it was immediatly above the function suite and that they had a dance on. We could not get to sleep till it ended. Not great! Apart from that the hotel was above expectation. Nope, it did what it said on the tin...needed some redecoration in areas. no internet conection in room.
