Rob and Vicky made us feel welcome from the minute we made the booking, they were able to provide information that made our travel arrangements work better. It was no problem for them to allow us to arrive mid morning, Rod showed us a map of the city and was able to provide useful local knowledge throughout the whole of our stay. On our departure day, they provided us with access back to the house to allow us to leave our bags there until we due to leave later in the day. Breakfast was a hearty.
all reviews » Unlike the other guest houses I looked into, the room I booked was the room I had. It was very roomy and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I inquired via email about a room refrigerator- even though Valentine's didn't have one, I was told when I arrived that my suggestion was taken and some were ordered (unfortunately the company couldn't deliver it for my visit). Also, I got a 2 page email with tourist suggestions after asking for some suggestions. The breakfast was p. A hearty breakfast is probably the most important attribute of this guest house. Add the superb waitering talents of Rob and Chris and it's a given that one's stay will be fantastic!! Location is central with a bus stop right outside the front door, but even without the bus, Edinburgh Castle was a mere 15 minutes' stroll away. Truly a wonderful stay!. - AMAZING "home cooked" Scottish Breakfast !!! Good introduction to the type of food people in Scotland eat. Location is also excellent -on a slow street but very near restaurants, shopping, and Old Town. My husband and I recently stayed for two nights with our toddler. The owners and staff could not be friendlier and more helpful. The beds were comfy and the room clean and quiet. The breakfast was delicious. The great reviews are true. Would absolutely stay again!. Room a little outdated but I must stress very clean. I think its better to leave the key from outside when leaving very early ... We had to ring owners for help ... And maybe garden needs to be cleared from rubbish. A vegetarian option for breakfast would make it even better. Thanks from mum & daughter. The updating of the facilities was somewhat sloppily done. It was adequate and we did not spend much time in the room. Nothing!. Nothing really. Dust and organisation but still... I would recommend it if you are on a budget!. The only drawback was the sharing of the tiny shower room. Filter coffee Im not a fan... but is just to put something because was great. The bathroom light kept going off while I was in the shower. Bed was quite uncomfortable and pillows lacked body - but we still slept ok. Upgrades are being planned, so there is nothing of note to note. Sporadic Internet connection in room. Toilet was broken. Hallway noise of doors opening and closing throughout the night. Parking was challenging. Everything was fine.
