What people say
It was convenient for Clifton Village and it's attractions and also bus services, taxi's and eating and drinking establishments, there was still some alterations going on at the Rodney but the rooms that were completed were excellent very welcoming with a lovely bowl of fruit . the room was small but perfectly formed and decorated to a really high standard with good attention to detail. the breakfast was brilliant, better than a lot of 4* hotels! and the staff were extremely helpful.all reviews »
Very good location in beautiful and peaceful Clifton Village. Staff in the hotel are very friendly and helpful, I were very well looked after. Thank you. Everything. Can't speak highly enough of the hotel and it's staff. Would highly recommend this hotel.Fantastic stay - many thanks.friendly and efficient staff. My room was very nicely done out and clean. It is very nice hotel. The staff on the reception desk were fantastic - extremely polite, friendly and helpful. Great location in Clifton. I could park right outside the hotel. Location, friendly staff, facilities and extras in room, 24hr reception in case of problems. The ambience was good; we experienced a nice welcome. The breakfast was excellent. friendly staff, great breakfast and very comfortable room. very cosy and quiet, very good location in a residential district but still a 20-30 min walk from city center or few minutes by bus that stops right next to the hotel (including the airport shuttle bus); tea, shortbread and fruits in the room; nice breakfast area. Location, price. Room was clean and well laid out. Breakfast was excellent. Service was great.Staff helpful; cleanliness excellent; complementary fruit, tea /coffee;. Friendly staff, nice new rooms. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful, e.g. keeping the restaurant open a little later than normal so that we could have dinner when we arrived (late). I also really liked having a cafetiere and pots of complementary freshly ground coffee and loose leaf tea in the room. Nice touches like that made a lot of difference. Finally, the location is excellent. The staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. the hotel had a relaxed atmosphere and is in a great location. Really excellent breakfast with great veggie options. Good tea and coffee in rooms.Nice and quite atmosphere overall. Reception service co-operation is fantstic and very well behave. Central position close to university accomodation where my son is staying.Staff very helpful. It was very accessible for the event I was attending, also near to Clifton shops and suspension bridge. The bus fron/to the station is right outside. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Welcome tray included fruit and a cafetierre pot, for brewing ground coffee and leaf tea which was nice. My bedroom was at the rear of the hotel and in a quiet position as requested. Restaurent excellent. We booked one of the newly refurbished rooms and although very small it was well decorated, very clean and the in-room facilities were very good. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and the staff were very helpful. Excellent location in Clifton village, hotel full of character, staff friendly and helpful, proximity to facilities, shops, restaurants, bars and public transport. good helpful staff, good directions to get there, easy to book. It was a short stay but the staff were friendly. Very friendly and acommodating staff. Good location Nice breakfast. I enjoyed my stay at the Rodney, the staff were friendly, attentive and most helpful. It is a lovely comfortable little hotel which I will certainly recommend and if I have the occasion to stay in Bristol, will book in there again. Staff really approachable and friendly - sorted out any issues straightaway. Loved the fruit bowl in the room - nice touch!. Lounge/bar area to meet up with rest of group. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and well prepared. friendly and very helpful reception staff.. very nice room with everything i could wish for.All of the staff were excellent, friendly with a really good attitude. Lovely location, very friendly and obliging staff, very pleasant room.It was a change from staying in the big brand hotels like Holiday Inn. Good position easy parking and friendliness of styaff. Excellent location, nice room, friendly staff. Use of the garden, helpful staff. Parking
Location. Friendly, helpful, clean and tidy.free fruit ad drinking facilities. Cosy room, location.location. Breakfast was good and well presented and the staff, whilst very laid back, were charming.the staff were very polite and helpfull, food also very good. The staff where very helpful and friendly. position within Clifton and Bristol. Pleasant helpful staff. Friendly staff, quiet during the night, situated in a nice area of Bristol, like the coffee make facilities in the room. All staff were extremely helpful and friendly and dealt with problems instantly and without fuss. The only problem we found was if you wanted to use the mirror on the wall while sittimg it was to high. Possibly the lack of a lift. dirty-looking shower basin and shower curtains. Very short of car parking space and they charge £5 per night for parking a car. In future I would choose a different hotel for this reason alone. The wooden headboard. No fridge in room. This was because of refurbishment but it would havebeen nice to be told of this on arrival. No shower cap. The shower isvery high and I am very short. Disaster for hairstyle! There were only 3hankies in the paper dispenser. This always makes me really mad.Breakfast "fresh fruit" consisted of tinned grapefruit. Otherwise fineand would book again. The room and bathroom were a little on the small side. Hot water a bit tepid in the morning, with inadequate water pressure in the shower over bath. Decor a bit tired but this was a room awaiting refurbishment so this should improve in due course. It certainly wasn't an issue for me because the room was clean.I stayed on third floor and no lift facility to commute. The room was a little too warm but apart from that - great. window stuck open v noisy ,no double glazing, corridors noisy at night no soun d proofing. Yes, parts of the hotel do look a little shabby. My room was rather cold but staff immediatly offered to put a heater on. Its carpet was noticably worn in places. It also had a very small single bed. Limited parking! No lift if you are on higher floors. not made clear that the first night was already taken off my credit card - this didn't matter, but if I had wanted to pay with a different card it could have been a problem. Also shower didn't work. My room had not been refurbished and had a door to the outside by it and a general toilet but i understand that the ground floor is being revamped later this year. Lack of clear instructions on how to locate the power switch for the electric shower. Room was a little cold. I was also on the ground floor next to a door that gave access to the garden. As a single lone woman traveller I was not happy having a single room on the ground floor. A bottle of water to go with the fruit would have been nice. Bathroom was a bit dated and ropey - shower not very powerful. Basic double room quite small in size.foyer and stairwell to rooms was in need of refurbishment. Parking. hit-or-miss nature of car parking. Limited parking. I did not like the way the cost of the room was taken the night of my stay rather than in the morning. The credit card slip doesnt match up to the final statement. It only shows extras.Size or single room. Breakfast wasn't included. I would prefer higher price with breakfastincluded and the opportunity to take it off. This was also notcommunicated very well - only after I had booked. No 'lift'. Help should be available to carry luggage up to 3rd. floor rooms
Poor showers.
Small rooms. More parking. breakfast finished at 9am - too early + bathroom needs renovating. Could do with some renovations. The door to the room (7) needs replacing. It is insecure, the lock fails to work first time on every occasion. My car got scatched whilst it was parked outside the hotel. When I failed to get a place outside I had to park beyond Whiteladies Road and it took me 15 minutes walk there and back. the bed was very hard, and ther was a taxi rank outside which was very noisy as lots of drunk people came there to catch a taxi......didn't get much sleep. The decor was dated though they are in the process of updating though this could be done more thoughtfully. After seeing an updated room very modern and little bit to modern !. Parking charges a little excessive and the hotel is beginning to look a little tired and in need of a deep clean and a lick of paint.Poor breakfast service, no tissues in bathroom, rather tired bathrooms. Room was very small. Matrass not very comfortable. They are in the process of refurbishing, but I had an 'old' room so hopefully will be different in a couple of months. The room was comfortable enough and despite a noisy water heater and voices from reception nearby, I slept very well and woke refreshed.
