Apart from the spectacular location, I found my room (overlooking the Gorge) to be spacious, quiet, clean and comfortable with a surprisingly fast shower head in the bathroom! The staff in the restaurant/bar are to be highly commended - nothing was too much trouble and they coped with high traffic very effeciently and professionally. Grace under pressure you might say. Very relaxing stay.

The terrace was a fantastic place to sit and have a couple of drinks because the weather was very good during our stay. Pleasant airy room, comfortable bed.Limited parking which is around the back of the hotel, although we did get a spot (recommend checking in on time to guarantee a place). However, this is free parking with a permit from the hotel. We chose to take breakfast late, at around 9.30. Unfortunately everyone else thought the same and there were long queus for the buffet.the coffee for breakfast,its that stewd coffee in the glasss jug. parking could do with being better. Parking really difficult, but that's not entirely their fault. Could not fully close window, once opened; all windows rattled at night (in the wind);. Parking - none available. No residents lounge. Their reccommended Taxi service is not reliable. Not the hotel's staff fault-they were let down in my case but had every intention of taking it up with the taxi firm so good reaction. No "smoking rooms". Found the organisation of the Sunday breakfast chaotic, long queues, which due to bad organisation were not dealt with professionally. Food kept running out. I felt the whole system needs looking at, organisation skills brought to bear. The staff coped very well considering, they kept their cool very cheerfully, and dealt with the situation admirably, as the lack of organisation was not their fault. Some of the decor was a little bit dated.bathroom was a bit tatty. SOme noise from corridors,and street. Parking difficult. A bigger bed would have been nice. Lack of soap in the batthroom. Milk in room!. I didn't like the evening set up for dinner. We decided not to eat there because we were not seated immediately but instead asked to wait at an unset table and look at the menu. There were plenty of tables open at the time. long corridors and staircases to room, difficult carrying luggage. Not really, but we were on the fourth floor, where a balustrade obscured the lower part of the window, which might not please some people. We thought there were interesting views out over the backs of Caledonia Place and Royal York Crescent, and along Princess Victoria Street. wall paper peeling in places, generator or similar noise at night, room too hot at night. Room good and we had an upgrade to one with a view but only had a standard double and one bedside table ( we did not complain may have provided another). Staff seemed stressed when breakfast got busy. Steep and narrow carpark.needs a revamp but I think they have one planed. In need of some refurbishment. The decor was slightly dated and the bed quite uncomfortable. Bit faded in its splendour and for that reason somewhat overpriced, if it werent for the family room I would probably go elsewhere and experience better surroundings/ameneties for less money.The service at breakfast-we were not asked if we wanted tea or coffee, when we did the tea was cold and coffee did not arrive. I had to ask twice for toast and 3 times for milk. The head waitress was pleasant but the rest were unsmiling!.

Avon Gorge Hotel is undergoing a gradual refurbishment between 1 March 2017 and September 2017, with minimal disruption to our residents. To avoid any disappointment over dinner places, guests should state in the Special Requests section the time they would like to reserve a table. Parking permits are available on a first come first serve basis and charged at 6 GBP per day. On street parking is available between 9.00 and 21.00 Monday to Saturday at 1 GBP per hour. A maximum stay of 3 hours is permitted. For guests arriving with luggage or with reduced mobility, a drop off area is available outside the hotel. Dogs are only allowed on request in selected rooms and this need to be confirmed by management. Charges maybe applicable. When booking more than 5 rooms, different policies and additional supplements may apply. Group reservations will be contacted after the booking has been made to arrange signing of a group contract.
