I had the room with balcony that you see in the pictures (3rd floor) -
it was very nice sitting there with a cup of tea in the sun in the
mornings. Walking distance to everything and the guys at Pepe on the
corner are great. Very tasty coffee and breakfast included at The House
Café (open from 9 am). -

The appartment is located in an old house near the Galata tower. Numerous small restaurants, galleries, and shops are in the neighbourhood. After climbing to the fifth floor (no elevator) a marvelous view on Bosporus and Golden Horn can be enjoyed. A classic hotel, which I've used twice before, in 1995 & 2005, before its recent refurbishment. It's now three times the price, but the grandeur is no longer faded, it's now a true 5-star place. And I'm delighted to say that the refurb hasn't spoilt its character at all, as this is a hotel with more character and history than most! Staff were great, we got a room upgrade, and an extra hour extended checkout wasn't a problem. If we return to Istanbul, it'll be the Pera Palas for us!
