all reviews » the view is wonderful, well placed in the city, the free city transport ticket for all days stayed in the hotel (i think it's true for all hotel in Lausanne), nice breakfast and wonderful staff. The view of the lake, well worth paying extra to be lakeside. The location was excellent, very good for public transport. Hotel corridors were heavily smelling. Non-smoking section of restaurant was full - had to sit in smoking area. free wireless (or at least a free wireless 30 min card could be offer each day). Odour in the hallway. The poor breakfast abd the internet service should be free because 25 francs per our is bad price for the internet that is available in every where now. No car parking in front of hotel to unload. parking spaces outside for loading/unloading were nearly always full. The breakfast buffet could be improved, especially the selection of cheese.Lack of power addapters to European electrisity devises. Bar rather small. Although I booked a month earlier on-line, they reserved the room on the worst side of the hotel. They said the computer did it and we, idiot, ate it... I requested a double bed and got two single beds together. It's not really the hotel's fault but rather a "European" thing. This was the same in Chamonix where my wife and I stayed before going to Hotel Au Lac. when arrived they gave us the key of a room already occupied... but changed immediately with a new one. No air conditioning in summer. Fridge needed defrosting.Breakfast options were limited. Bad smell in the rooms. Did not like having to wait while they removed the previous occupants luggage from our room, despite it being evening!. The subway to the train station is closed at the moment, but there are plenty buses.Non standard plugs. Breakfast choice limted. For the price it was not quite as luxurious as some hotels we have stayed in.Inconvenient fire escape meant we had to use the lift all the time. No parking. Quite far from the downtown.The breakfast room was rather cold as the main door was open.in addition there was a poor choice of food. We had a back room overlooking a building site and level with 20 or so chimneys.If i stayed again i would need a front room. Hotel is old and needs renovating. Rooms small and in need of upgrade. Corridoors had unpleasant smell. The bed was very uncomfortable and the staff were a bit rude.No air conditioning in the rooms and ventilation was poor. Decor dated and a bit 'tired'. The bed was really small in the single room. There was one little pillow and the blanket was really light. I had to ask for another blanket as I was cold. The guy in the reception was not too kind.yes there was, i dint like they way they have treat us it could be because it a 3 star hotel the room, there were Mosquitoes in our room which i thought its because of the lake maybe,, plus i have asked them for a extra bed sheet but no one gave me, no AC.
