We loved our room, which was modern, spacious & stylishly appointed. Everything that we could want was there. The staff were very friendly & helpful. We ate in the Tapas bar on one night of our stay & had a very good meal. We did not think it was overpriced. Unfortunately, the Michelein star restaurant at the hotel was booked out so we were not able to dine there on our second evening. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel & are looking forward to returning .
all reviews » Rooms were stylish and well set out and in a building with beautiful architectural features. Breakfast was good. Location was excellent within walking distance of hop on hop off bus stop and close to restaurants, massage place and shops. Also within easy walking to La Rambla. Concierge staff were particularly good and helpful and booked a few outings for us. The hotel however could have a stand to show what they offer in this respect to make more profit. This is a wonderful Hotel in a very nice area of Barcelona. Fine dining or more casual dining - both very good. Albert, head of Concierge, was a stand out! Nothing was too hard for him and he truly made our visit memorable from organising tours, concert tickets to stamps! They were also very accommodating when minding our luggage for a few days before returning. Very happy and helpful staff. We would always return to this Hotel. The eyeballs on the building make it a feature!! Really helpful staff. Lovely rooms, spacious and comfortable. Quirky features like having reception on level 0.5. Glass of bubbles on check in. Rooftop bar has great views and nice place to drink. The cocktails downstairs are outstanding - highly recommend you try. Rooms are very open plan on the bathroom front, so bear in mind if you are sharing a room with someone!. A real 5 star hotel by all means. Very professional and friendly staff. The Concierge was someone to high lighten. Very experienced and supportive, managed a nearly impossible misssion to book a table in a top restaurant for dinner and made very good eating and shopping recommandations. Very unique upscale design on the interior but has the classical architectural facade on the exterior. If a country can't supply proper drinking water then I expect the hotel to provide as much as you want and not just four small bottles. However, after speaking to the staff we were provided with more. There was no iron or ironing board in room which is annoying as often clothes need a little pressing and it is costly to have all your clothes pressed after travelling. The room was cleaned later than I prefer; usually in the afternoon and in one case about 3-4 ish. We thought it was expensive and for that reason only booked 4 nights, but would have been very happy to stay longer if it were cheaper. That the pool closed at 7pm! We didn't quite make it back to the hotel in time to enjoy the pool.. but had drink instead. nothing at all. Nothing. A bit pricey - did not eat in the restaurant since the evening hours do not open until 7:30p.m., the bar on the main level had excellent drinks, but also very pricey. Things that I did not like about this hotel is the size of the room, it's very tight and the shower is located in the middle of the room and its transparent which was uncomfortable for us. The quality of the tioletories were very bad. Most of tv channels were Spanish, English channels were the news only. There was no tea/coffee bar, ironing facilities. The room interior is not up to the five star hotel standards!. The snack food in the rooftop bar is very poor. €10.50 for a dry toasted sandwich for example, with dull cheese and a bit of ham is not acceptable. This is a five star hotel so should do better than this. Only one thing! When relaxing on the roof terrace which was very full due to great weather and 2 families with 4 young children jumping in small plunge pool and getting everyone and cameras, clothes soaking wet. Although staff asked parents to stop children they were ignored. Given this is the only outdoor space to relax perhaps a clear sign for parents to make sure the children behave appropriately and not ruin it for all other users?. Limited number of sun beds on terrace made even mre inaccessible by inconsiderate guests leaving towels (and books) on sunbeds and disappearing for long periods of "shopping" or "sightseeing". at peak moments too little space on the roof terrace (as in all hotels offering a swimming pool on the roof: but still it is better to have a swimming pool than none at all. I wish I had stayed longer!. Being a luxury boutique hotel would have liked to have seen a coffee machine in the room. Couldn't justify the extra 20€ when other hotels provide it for free. The price was a little high. Our 'design' room was on the small side & the glass-walled shower was in the centre of the room. This wouldn't suit everyone. Nothing. All of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful except for one person. Bar prices high, ridiculous to pay Euro 16, for a gin & tonic at the bar. The 'open' shower kiosk in the room is a gimmick that serves no real purpose especially for those who do not have model physique. I had the privilege of being mugged on the Via Laietana a hundred yards from the hotel, the desk staff were totally indifferent to what happened, refusing to contact the police on our behalf. The only assistance given was offering directions to the nearest police station. The main road in front of hotel can be a bit noisy. Would have like a window or balcony that opened in our room. The 'Michelin Star' Sauc Restaurant wasn't great. very long check in process. we didn't get the room we booked and were downgraded in order to get twin beds. very small lounging area near the pool, only 10 sunbeds for 70 room hotel! too much air freshener in the halls and in the room, all of my clothes still smell of it. definitely not a 5 star hotel. wouldn't stay there again for that price. It was fairly expensive.....but in the long haul worth it. Good hotel. Keep pointing people there. All I can say is 1 night was not long enough!. We got racial discrimination when taking breakfast in the restaurant at 0 floor every day. The lady is horrible. The concierge slipped up once. They misestimated the taxi fare to the airport BY A LOT. Maybe a bit too dark with all that dramatic lighting. Bath not separate from sleeping area, sink area very dark. Avoid Barcelona in August: block-long lines for most popular sites. Once room cleaning was done at 5 pm when we were back from the city tour and wanted to relax. Instead we were waiting chambermaid to finish her work. The bar didnt stay open late enough and it was a bit pricey. The entrance to the garage is not very practical because it is to stop on a main street with a lot of traffic. The light in the bathroom is to dark for make up. Very limited space to stop the car in front of the hotel for unloading or loading. too strong smell of deodorizer in bathroom, breakfast buffet average. The design stays a bit in the way of comfort (claustrophobic and poorly ventilated toilet). The staff is nice and eager to help but the organization is laking in efficiency - for check-in / out, even with just a person in front of you it will take 10 to 15 mins., but you'll get a glass of cava!. Boutique not for us one big room Shower all glass in centre of room except bed area all Black/poor lighting and no lightin around Wardrobe area couldnt find your clothes/ NOT FOR SHY COUPLES. expensive, breakfast had not much to offer. Nothing. Lack of hooks in bathroom.
