Nice staff, really close to La Ramblas, only 5 minute walk. Close to the beach Barceloneta, about 15 minute walk. A lot och cheap bars around the hostel. Close to good restaurants and there's a small store right outside. Really good hostel if you're not planning on staying in the hotel all the time. It's budget and perfect for backpackers or friends. The rooms also have small balconies and the rooms are clean, you get clean towels every other day. all reviews »
Cozy rooms with electric fan provided which makes it much cooler! Fantastic location make you few mins walk from the beaches and shopping avenue.
The host pepe was an extremly nice person. It felt like a 3/4 stars hotel for the cost of almost nothing.

Hostel Romay was located in the Barri Gotic which is a prime location to be as a tourist.
Not far from the beach and city center.
It says the reception is staffed 24 hours a day but it's not. Only got 1 key for the room.
Bad insulation - little bit cold and noisy. But it is OK according to price.
The street noise at night.
However, the hotel is on a street that is extremely loud until 5am so it
is hard to sleep through. Also the staff was never there to help others.
Also note that the hotel says it is on the 2nd floor but it is really
the 3rd floor for European and 4th for Americans.

everything smelled like wet and mold. if they will care a little bit more of very small and yet important details it will be an amazing place. like this it is economic, central and unconfortable :).
There was construction 24-7, couldn't sleep. The staff was inadequate and not helpful. The rooms were uncomfortable. The shared bathroom had a broken shower. Overall, I really disliked hostel Romay.
