July 2013. We had a great time at this pension. We called ahead to say we would be late and the staff were very friendly and helpful, and some can speak English. When we arrived the staff could not speak English but communicated through a translator app!! The location is excellent, 5 mins walk from the centre of las Ramblas and a metro stop. The room was clean, air conditioned and contained a new-looking shower, sink and fridge. Wifi was fast. We were able to leave our bags after checkout. The .

My room was cleaned every day, which for a hostel is pleasantly surprising. The location is good as in in the center - two minute walk to La Rambla and ten minute walk to the port. Plaça de Catalunya with the AeroBus is within 5 min too, so transfers to/from the airport could never be easier The AC worked perfectly, fridge, shower, wifi etc - all good. The staff was very helpful and friendly, speaking English (and some French). Although the hotel is in an old building and it would require some maintenance work, it still offers many amenities: flat screen TV with many channels (Spanish, Catalan, Italian, French, English), air conditioning, mini-fridge and a very good WiFi connection to the Internet. Cleanliness was impeccable. The hotel has an excellent location and also presents an excellent price / quality ratio. Cool neighborhood with very affordable eating nearby. The staff was VERY nice and helpful, giving us all kinds of advice and were very attentive. There is a very nice breakfast around the corner, lots of grocery stores and bakeries right across the street and next door. Overall this was just great. Would definitely recommend it!. My room had only a tiny window that I couldn't even look out from because it was too high. Unfortunately, the structure of the building did not allow a broader staircase and even less to install an elevator. The rooms have no toilet, just a shower, but shared toilets were very clean. Noise from outside is heard out loud enough, but who the hell comes to Barcelona to sleep?. As a single female traveller, the area was a little disconcerting to begin with. Due to heavy maintenance to the facilities, it was a bit messy during the day, and not sparkling clean, but they did the best they could to keep the issues at the minimum. Not all of the personal can speak english. Also one of the stuff was unfriendly to me while moving out. No any kitchen or restaurant (first floor cafe is expensive and miserable). In the morning I went to have a walk and a cup of coffee and when I came back my room was prepared for another visitor and I had nothing to do but to leave the hostel though I could stay up to check-out time. I asked for a double bed. But the bed is too small for two persons. So, never ask for a double bed in the hotel. only one bathroom to floor un solo bagno per piano. The building is quite old,as well as the bathroom and paiting of the walls... There was a bad smell coming out of the bathroom the first day we were there. It's a very noisy area 24/7 so it was hard to relax. The towels wasn't that clean. I didn't like that the shared bathrooms were not separated by gender... really uncomfortable for me. Bring earplugs because the road outside the hotel is noisy. You could hear everything going on outside, including Spaniards yelling at the top of their lungs before 7am. The air con was pretty terrible. The shower didnt have a curtain... the room was a little to tiny for all our luggage (and we had to climb to lots of stairs with heaps of luggage) ... Pretty dodgy little place. But it was okay, probably wouldnt stay here again though. A mouse in the room. Old building and facilities Staffs do not speak English or only speak very basic English. Too noisy for the location is next to busy road traffic. - tiny room and bad layout - uncomfortable beds, not even normal beds, just guest/camp beds - useless, trashy wardrobe - insufficient cleaning: found flea and else's hair in the bed - 1 bathroom (w toilet) shared by 8 rooms/16 people - no sound proof, high noise all night, from other rooms and street - WiFi does not work - "Some rooms have fridge", I have requested one, but didn't get.
