Housed in a historic building on the edge of Auckland city centre, City Garden Lodge offers free parking and unlimited free Wi-Fi. City Garden Lodge is only a 3-minute walk from the Link Bus to Auckland's city centre with Parnell’s restaurants, cafes and art galleries on the doorstep. It is a 20-minute walk to Vector Arena. Facilities include covered bicycle storage, self-service guest laundry and a fully equipped kitchen with indoor and outdoor dining areas. There is a large BBQ located amongst the spacious gardens. Each room has a desk, heating, fans and views of the garden. Guests have access to male and female shared bathrooms. Originally built as the New Zealand Embassy for the Queen of Tonga, City Garden Lodge Auckland is surrounded by trees and lawns, with plenty of birdlife.

I really enjoyed my stay at City Garden Lodge, infact i stayed there on three separate occasions because i enjoyed the peacefulness of its location and the charm and character of such a wonderful historic building. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I would certainly recommend it as a place to stay - there is plenty of space to relax, a large kitchen and always a hot shower. The location was in the city of Auckland and not too far from the Britomart train station. Raj and his family were excellent hosts. Quiet! Well kept, welcoming, we're able to accommodate our arrival per check in and let us leave our bags in our room so we could explore the city. Comfortable, clothesline, awesome. -the character of the place -friendliness and professionalism of the hosts -well-localted in Parnell: minutes away from the center yet in a quiet street. A couple of coffee tables in the lounge would be useful. reception not open in early afternoon (i.e., when I arrived). Lack of heat, my room was very damp and I mean damp. The smell was overwhelming. The room without windows? Seriously?? The ceiling light was poor, like in prison. This place need a serious repair, and shower too (repair plastic thing that cover cabins). My pillow was pretty much thin. It is grate for REAL backpackers who does'n need a little comfortable conditions.
