Ideally located just meters away from la Piazza, yet very calm. Has a brand new wine bar in the neughbouring hotel, belonging to the group, and two restaurants in 20 m distance. Richly decorated, very high ceiling room and very friendly staff. Excellent location, very clean, large comfortable rooms. Yet it is in a very quiet enclave on a romantic canal with the Bridge of Sighs close by. Having booked a deluxe room, we were not disappointed. It was enormous, and could have passed as a suite. The thick red carpet, wooden panelled walls, and luxury marble bathroom were beyond our expectations. The breakfast (american) and breakfast hall were a feast for all the senses. A Jewel!!!!. Let's see. The room was not small, like everybody kept saying. Theprices was extremely reasonable for a deluxe room during Christmasseason. The breakfast was varied and always hot and delicious. The roomservice was reasonably priced and prompt. This is just a flat outfantastic hotel. Very Central to the main tourist area. Very quiet, very clean. The staff were friendly. We had a room on the top floor over lookng the canal, it was a very large with bubble bath - perfect for a romantic weekend.We paid for a de luxe double room and were upgraded to a suite. Whatmakes the hotel stand out is the spacious lounge with balcony, thegarden, and the tasteful interior design. The location was superb, staff extremely friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Would definately stay at Hotel Dona Palace again!!!. Selected package deal - Dinner is based off a set menu with limitedselection, service was poor food quality was standard. However thepackage deal is still the better option given there was no costdifference between room priced with or without package option,especially since a Water Taxi to Murano will run you €35. Not really. The coffee at breakfast could be better - that's all.Deal included one evening meal(excluding drinks) booked by reception fortuesday evening - were told to hand slip to waiter at restaurant onarrival. We both noticed that we were treated as "2nd class" obviouslyas we were having a complimentary meal!!- Sat in back corridor to kitchen-the waiter not attentive-service slow for us-some of meal forgotten!?Drinks expensive- not a good experience!.
