absolutely perfect! My girlfriend and I arrived on a Thursday evening by
Metro, and after some time fumbling around in the Gran Via area we found

I liked everything about this hostel. It is on the 5th floor but
don't worry because they do have an elevator. The place was recently
renovated so everything is new, modern, and beautifully decorated
w/TV and nice quiet a/C. Even though it is on a very busy main
street, my room #12 was quiet because it faced into a courtyard. Wi-Fi
was free and worked great. The location could not be better. I could
walk to Sol, Plaza Mayor, the Royal Palace and gardens, Plaza Espagna,
and the Opera house. The

Location superb - pedestrianised shopping strip right outside your door. Very safe area. Extremely helpful staff-thanks Mary and George for a great and comfortable stay. It's an hostal, not an hotel. Said that, everithing was really good: WiFi decent, clean room (they clean it every day) and the staff is very helpful. Position is very good: really close to atocha, to the retiro gardens, the Prado, the modern art museum.. And close to city centre as well. In case in the district there are too different bars/pubs..

Maid rearranged room for us after first night to better suit our needs(2 twins beds to a pseudo-double) and tidied our sloppy shoes.
Ultra clean. Like spotless. Pressed sheets.
I found this property with a price filter but will make a bee line there next time.

Obwohl ich nach meiner Ankunft mit dem Nachtzug vor der üblichen Eincheckzeit angekommen bin habe ich schon ein Zimmer bekommen. - Die Mitarbeiter waren superfreundlich, einige konnten auch deutsch. Extrem freundliches und hilfreiches Personal. Das Hotel ist eigentlich eine Mehrzimmerwohnung im 3. Stockwerk und hat eine nette familiäre Atmosphäre. Die Betten sind zwar nur 1,90 m lang, aber die Matratzen sind okay. Und die zentrale Lage (direkt bei U-Bahn-Station Opera) ist einfach super! -

Very different to commercial establishments in as much as it is a
converted apartment and was very interesting for us, a mature couple. We
were placed in a huge room at no extra cost. Very clean. Quite an
experience for us even !though we know Madrid well. -
The biggest bonus of this little family-run place is its unrivalled location facing the Royal palace. Staff are very responsive and punctual and the place has the charm of a 18th century building.
