Barcelona Hotels

This was a clean and comfortable hotel. It was everything you would expect from a 3 star hotel. he staff were friendly and welcoming, happy to help and advise you on your stay in Barcelona. The rooms were cleaned everyday to a high standard. VERY close to placa de catalunya (the top of La Rambla). On check out your suitcases can be left in a safe secure place until you need to leave for the airport etc. Would DEFINATLEY recommend this hotel. - Martyn

Great location- walking distance to just about everywhere, and a close metro station. When we checked in we received a really tiny room (just a small margin of space around the bed), but after complaining we received a larger room, that also had space for an armchair. The room and bathroom were very clean and had a very nice decoration. One thing about the staff- they seemed nice, but couldn't help us with most of our questions or tips, as they hardly spoke English- not what I would expect fro - Geoff

We had a superb stay at Hotel Axel. It is by far the nicest gay accommodation we've stayed in. All the staff were so friendly and took plenty of time and trouble with us. Good facilities and food; really interesting and smart decor. Some of the bits and bobs (like need a bit of TLC to bring them properly to good condition but this is a minor point. I would recommend this hotel very very much, for couples both straight and gay. We will definitely return. Lovely place! :) - Neil

I title my review that because my props to a hotel I stayed at last year are long overdue. They were really great, and when I didn't wake up for a wake up call, a member of the staff actually came up to wake me. Breakfast was a lovely affair with some superb things on offer and dining there wasn't shabby either. The most important thing is always staff courtesy and they delivered with flying colors. Plus I got a great rate, and I couldn't ask for a better location, whether on foot or public tran - Anna

Went with my sister-in-law and mutual friend to celebrate a special birthday and stayed in a triple superior room overlooking the Ramblas. Apart from being so central for everything, the hotel was comfortable, clean and the room was great. Three people sharing a room and bathroom - no problem here. Roomed cleaned and replenished every day. We didn't include breakfast as we wanted to experience breakfasts at the market, which we enjoyed. Incredible location (50 metres from La Rambla), great architecture (original features, but modernised rooms), staff were mostly friendly and all very helpful. We had a very clean and good sized room with rear balcony. Only 3 stars, so no minibar / fridge / free fancy shampoos - but still good value. And no tea & coffee making facilities (as is standard for nearly all continental European hotels). Breakfast is ok, although not great value for money. I had been somewhat apprehensive about my stay at the Tryp Apolo after reading some of the reviews. But I was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by a very helpful receptionist who spoke excellent English and asked us if we wanted a room on the quiet interior of the building. We were put under no pressure to upgrade or to add breakfast to our booking. The room was comfortable and clean with bedding of the kind I have come to expect in most hotels in Mediterranean countries - no duvet but sh - Susan

I stayed here for a night with some girlfriends.We each had a single room which was cleverly set out .Whilst not luxurious you cant help but love the room.These guys have paid attention to detail and the room works. We ate in the restaurant and can not complain about the quality or the service.The bar was fine but lacked something...we preferred sitting in the lounge and having drinks in there. This is a cool,relaxed hotel,but it wont suit everyone.My parents wouldnt get it!Yet they enjoyed - Edward

The Barcelo Atenea Mar is situated a little outside of the main downtown of Barcelona, but it is close to both bus and subway stops and the tourist bus stops at its door. Its location across the street from the beach is convenient and we always felt safe when departing or arriving on foot. The room we had was a corner one that had views of the Mediterranean, as well as of the city proper and the mountains surrounding. We stayed here 20-22 October in Room 702! I would recommend requesting this room when booking as it has a large terrace with table and chairs! The Wilson Hotel is a beautiful place to stay in Barcelona, large modern bedroom and bathrooms! The breakfast is quite over priced for what you get. We only ate here because it poured down with rain! I would advise that you take the hotel address with you if you intend on getting taxi's as they have no idea where it is 9 times out of 10! Or ask for - Dilip
