  We loved the ambience! There was a young man playing the sax right under our window when we arrived and it was magical. When we entered the room there was a wood smell from the fireplace. It was heaven!   What a classic! I loved it and felt that I was a part of the real Victoria that many never see. The quiet location within walking distance of the downtown and transit to the rest of town was great. The staff did not fall all over us which to me is more comfortable than being fussed over. They were pleasant, helpful and unobtrusive. This gave me a chance to walk down the wonderful staircase admire th - Firstly, one needs to compare the day rate between the Empress and the Inn. The Empress is only a few blocks away, free parking, free wi-fi, also doesn't have air conditioning....and is almost $300 more a day. As I didn't need to spend a lot of time in my room, the size didn't matter. However, security and cleanliness was key and the Inn met those very well. The restaurant is excellent.   We arrived fairly late and had a bite to eat and a drink in the pub downstairs. Very friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Beds very comfortable and quiet during the night. I didn't have to pack my luggage to a business meeting. Also the convenience of the location being right downtown Victoria almost next to the museum and archives was a tremendous bonus. I liked how they put me in a room on the 14th floor which gave me the best views ever.

  Ok People are freaking out way too much about this hotel, probably travellers who are looking for a luxury resort for very little money. The place was clean, had good staff, and cheap. I think people complaining that there are homeless people.....listen they are not evil they are just people going through a rough time - The rooms, although old, were very clean and comfortable. It was within easy walking distance to tourist attractions. The gentleman on the desk was very friendly and knowledgeable about Victoria. An enjoyable stay!
