What a classic! I loved it and felt that I was a part of the real Victoria that many never see. The quiet location within walking distance of the downtown and transit to the rest of town was great. The staff did not fall all over us which to me is more comfortable than being fussed over. They were pleasant, helpful and unobtrusive. I liked the fact that the only hotel information in the room was the emergency procedures. This gave me a chance to walk down the wonderful staircase admire th.
所有评语 » Firstly, one needs to compare the day rate between the Empress and the Inn. The Empress is only a few blocks away, free parking, free wi-fi, also doesn't have air conditioning....and is almost $300 more a day. As I didn't need to spend a lot of time in my room, the size didn't matter. However, security and cleanliness was key and the Inn met those very well. The restaurant is excellent. The staff very friendly and helpful. Although there is no elevator, staff will carry the luggage. This is a g. This vintage inn has great character. It has a terrific rooming house feel with all the basic guest accommodations. There is even a huge 3 piece guest bath on each floor, as well as what is in your room. The owners have done well in maintaining the historic feel to the building with furnishings & decoration. Located a couple of blocks behind the Parliament Buildings in a quiet area. A pub within walking distance, also one in the hotel (good food). Close to the museum/ imax Theatre & dow. Location is really good. Near to attractions and City Center, in a friendly neighborhood and with a small grocery shop 1 block from the hotel. The hotel was clean and without any smell that could indicate lack on maintenance. Shower was good and with hot water whenever I needed. Do not expect luxury but it is a very good place to stay. Staff was helpful and treated everyone with respect and courtesy. The old building was a comfortable classic style. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food in the pub was good as well. My favorite thing is that it is centrally located to be able to walk everywhere in the tourist district. It was nice to have free wi-fi. James Bay Inn is a lovely 'character' hotel with a historical feel to it ... a breath of fresh air (literally as you could open the windows to let the breeze come in!) Having the restaurant on the lower floor and the discount meal coupon was very convenient as well. Love love the unique feeling in every aspect of this inn. I stay here for the weekend every year to partake in the Victoria Goodlife Fitness Half marathon. I love how voles it is to downtown, yet it has such a non downtown feel! I would recommend it over and over!!!. The staff was welcoming and helpful. Location was great..close to the park and close to the harbor. It's located in a charming residential neighborhood only a few blocks from the harbor. Wonderful breakfasts served in the restaurant. Good value. Quiet and friendly atmosphere. The front desk receptionist was very friedly and helpful when I wanted to book a shuttle. The hotel is old and there are no elevators but again the receptionist offered to help me get my luggage up the stairs. I love this hotel! It is my home away from home when I visit Victoria. The staff are warm and friendly from the front desk to the young woman cleaning the rooms. It's a great place to travel solo. I love the connection to Emily Carr. James Bay Inn is a quirky and charming hotel. It is quiet and peacefull, close to all the Victoria essentials, and totally affordable! I loved it there and will be staying at this hotel every time I come to victoria. Excellent location within walking distance of the city center yet with free parking. A charming place. Both the pub and the restaurant are good, you can't beat the three-course meal for 20$!. Walk to shops, parks and shoreline. We only rented a car for 3 of the 8 days we stayed. They have secure storage for bicycles. We found the James Bay inn to be very well priced, in a good location, friendly staff and nice rooms. We would stay again and recomend it to anyone. the location, quiet, close to grocery store/pharm/coffee cafe, waterfront sites/bus stops. clean. rooms were spacious. the decor was nice. Then, again, there is a restaurant right there and at the nightly rate I didn't really expect extras. The Inn is a 3 story walk up, no elevator. This isn't a bad thing, we just assumed there would be, so pack light. The sloping floors & stair treads can be a concern for anyone with balance issues. It was not enough time. The only issue for us was that the rooms were very very warm. We had to prop both windows open and open the hall door to draft the warm air out. We did not have the heater on. We were on the 3rd floor and think it is the warm air rising from below. Other than that, we had a wonderful time! Thank you. The tub with rounded sides called for caution when using the shower so as not to slip and fall. On a warm day, the room is rather hot. No elevator. Room was very hot, too hot to sleep. Moved to another room the next morning. That's the only reason "facilities" did not get an "excellent" rating. Everything was fine. no air conditioning, room very warm all day but great at night. No elevators! I didn't mind carrying my luggage up the stairs into the building and then to the third floor, but some guests would have struggled. Not sure if they have a staff member who helps with luggage..... Nothing. Windows were due for replacement and being on the first floor, it would be very easy to break into the room. Unlikely but possible. There was a chair in the room that need a cushion to be replaced. I would prefer to have a coffee a coffee maker in my room. There was no elevator, so I don't recommend this place to older people. No coffee in the rooms, I always enjoy when the hotel provides a list/ brochure of things to see or places to see upon arrival. I find it more welcoming when the staff take a bit of interest in your stay. reception staff distant and slightly cool. the shower switched between hot & cold water. No elevator but manageable. No kettle in the room. No tea or coffee maker in room. none. Noise of kitchen fan with window open. Would have liked real cups in the room for tea. N/A. Nothing. The water temperature varied frequently when taking a shower. No air conditioning. Limited storage space for clothes. No elevator. No complaints. Wasn't told that there was complimentary coffee available in the am in the lobby. Can't think of anything else. no little fridge in room not stroller-accessible. I felt the reception when I arrived early in the day a little unfriendly so did not feel welcomed. All the staff afterwards were friendly. Shower a litle small and not enough air in bathroom, Would like to be able to leave an open window in evening ,but it is not secure at night. Lack of temperature control on the shower. I would have liked a coffee in my room.
